History Of Barclays Center

Barclays Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Brooklyn, New York City. It’s the home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and the New York Liberty of the WNBA. Although the sports venue was primarily built for basketball games, it also hosts a large number of different events including sporting events, conventions, and live entertainment events.

The Center is one of New York City’s best-known sporting arenas, along with other local venues such as Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, home of the Yankees, and Citi Field, home of the Mets. It’s located above the LIRR Atlantic Terminal and next to the Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center subway station, making it very accessible by public transport.

Work began on Barclays Center in June 2010, and the venue opened on September 21, 2012. The Nets played their first game in their new home on October 15, 2012, an NBA preseason game against the Washington Wizards, which the Nets won 98-88. They followed this with the first regular-season NBA game on November 3, 2012: a 107–100 victory against the Toronto Raptors.

In addition to NBA games, Barclays Center hosts college basketball events, hockey games, MMA events, and WWE wrestling events. It’s hosted the MTV Video Music Awards twice and is also a popular concert venue. Some of the world’s biggest artists have performed at Barclays Center including Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, and Ariana Grande.

Standard Seating at Barclays Center

The Nets seating chart shows three levels of standard seating at Barclays Center: Lower Level, Middle Level, and Upper Level.

The ticket prices listed below are indicative of seat prices available on Ticketmaster. NBA tickets may also be available on secondary market websites like StubHub

Lower Level Side

Lower Level Side sections at center court are some of the best standard seats at Barclays Center. Nets fans who choose these seats will enjoy a great overall experience with close views of the action.

If you’re a passionate Nets fan, you might be tempted to choose tickets at the front of section 7. These seats will get you close to your basketball heroes, but you’ll mainly see a row of backs, and the players can obstruct your view of the game.

Choosing seats in higher rows of sections 23-25 will give you a clearer view of the game and a good head-on view of the bench. You’ll also be closer to the entry tunnel at the top of the section and avoid walking down the steep steps to your seat.

With up to 27 rows in each Lower Level Side section, this can make a big difference when you’re visiting the concessions and restrooms.

Tickets in this location will start at around $180-200.

Lower Level Corner

View of the basketball court from Section 13 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Bcraig, A View from my Seat.

Corner sections on the Lower Level offer a compromise between the incredible views but higher ticket prices on the center sections and the cheaper seats with obstructed views at the baseline.

Sections 3, 13, 19, and 29 have a more comfortable viewing angle down the court than sections 6, 10, 22, and 26, which look across the court.

Sections 3-6 will give you a good view of the Nets team bench and the player entry tunnel. Avoid sections 26-29 if you’re a passionate Nets fan, as the basket will block your view of the bench.

Seats in Lower Level Corner sections start at around $180 for the front rows or $80 for seats higher up in the section.

Lower Level End

View of the basketball court from Section 31 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Anonymous User, A View from my Seat.

Lower Level End sections are the most affordable lower tier seats, especially if you want to get close to the action. However, most of the seats have a partially-obstructed view because of their proximity to the basket.

Choosing seats towards the outer edges of the rows and sitting further back in the section will minimize the obstruction.

The entry tunnels are at the top of these sections, so choose higher row numbers for easier access to the concourse.

Expect to pay ticket prices starting from $180 for the front rows in Lower Level End sections. If you choose seats further back in the section, your tickets could start at just $75.

Middle Level Side

View of the basketball court from Section 107 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Mpbaltravens, A View from my Seat.

Middle Level Side tickets are just above the lowest tier of seating. This is a great height for watching a Nets game, and you’ll enjoy some of the best views at Barclays Center, especially if you choose sections close to center court.

These sections have just 6 rows of seating, making trips to the restrooms and concessions easy. The excellent views and position near the player entry tunnels make Middle Level Side sections a great choice overall.

Whether you’re a Nets fan or a visiting team supporter, sections 123-125 will give you a good head-on view of your favorite players on the benches.

Tickets here start at around $100, making them a good value option for basketball fans.

Middle Level Corner

View of the basketball court from Section 102 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Anonymous User, A View from my Seat.

Middle Level Corner sections are a great choice for Nets seats with easy access to the lower level concourse. These are small sections with up to 9 rows of seating and the entry tunnel at the front of the section.

Middle Level Corner sections offer a good view of the court from the top of the lower bowl, and you’ll be able to watch the game with minimal head-turning. Choose sections 102-106 for a head-on view of the Nets bench.

Expect to pay prices starting from $70-80 for corner seats on the Middle Level.

Middle Level End

View of the basketball court from Section 13 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Flashbacks, A View from my Seat.

Middle Level End seating is only available at the east end of Barclays Center, as the premium Loge Boxes take up the area behind the baskets at the other end. In addition to this, the area next to section 114 is taken up by the Baseline Club.

This means section 117 is the only option for Middle Level End seats, and the view from here is partly obstructed by the basket. But with prices starting around $40-50, the seats are some of the cheapest in the lower bowl, and tickets here often sell out.

Upper Level Side

View of the basketball court from Section 207 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Epfrmbk, A View from my Seat.

Upper Level Side sections offer good views at a more affordable price than Lower Level seats. You’ll have a good view of the entire court, but the view from the first three rows will be affected by the safety glass.

Sections 223 and 225 will give you head-on views of the player benches. Choose the highest seat number in Section 223 or lowest numbered seat in Section 225 to get closest to the mid-court line.

These are large sections with up to 22 rows of seating. The entrance tunnel is between rows 2 and 5, so pick lower rows for easy access to the nearby restrooms and concessions. You’ll also avoid walking up and down the section’s steep steps.

Seats near center court are some of the most expensive upper deck seats at Barclays Center. Expect to pay around $90 for front-row seats and $45 for seats nearer the back of the section.

Upper Level Corner

View of the basketball court from Section 212 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Missy, A View from my Seat.

Seats in Corner sections on the 200 Level are some of the cheapest Nets tickets, but the view varies a lot.

The safety glass at the front of the section will affect the view from the first three rows in all Upper Level Corner sections.

Sections 205, 211, 221, and 227 are some of the furthest from the court, and you’ll have to turn your head to watch the action at the far end of the court. Choosing seats in sections 204, 212, 220, and 228 will give you a more comfortable viewing angle.

200 Level Corner sections have no more than 15 rows, with the entrance at row 7. Seats in these sections are also reasonably close to the Upper Concourse amenities.

Ticket prices start around $60 in the front row and around $45 further back.

Upper Level End

View of the basketball court from Section 201 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Anonymous User, A View from my Seat.

The 200 Level at Barclays Center is a good place to find affordable Nets tickets. However, the view here isn’t the best, as the basket may obstruct part of the court, and you’ll have a longer walk to the restrooms and concessions around the center sections.

These are small sections with no more than 13 rows of seating. Choose seats around Row 7 for the easiest access to the entrance tunnel, and pick sections 201-202 for the best views of the Nets’ home bench.

Seats in this location start around the $45-50 mark.

Accessible Seating

ADA-accessible seating is available on all levels of Barclays Center, subject to availability. Wheelchair spaces and companion seating may be purchased online or by contacting the Barclays Center box office. Luxury suites at Barclays Center are also wheelchair accessible.

All entrances to the arena are ADA-accessible, and elevators between the levels are available to guests with disabilities.

All public restrooms at Barclays Center are ADA-accessible.

Limited-View Seats

The front three rows of the upper bowl at Barclays Center will have their view obstructed by the safety glass at the front of the section. To avoid this, choose seats further back in 200 Level sections.

All end section seats may have their view partly obstructed by the basket. The degree of obstruction varies, but you can minimize this problem by choosing seats further back and closer to the corners of the arena.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Barclays Center?

Standard seating at Barclays Center offers great options for watching a Brooklyn Nets game at an affordable price.

Here’s our pick of the best value seats for the Nets.

Best Value for Cheapest Price

The cheapest ticket prices for standard seats at Barclays Center are found in the Upper Level End Sections, where you could pick up a seat for around $40.

However, the views here aren’t the best, and you might prefer to pay a few dollars more for seats nearer the back of Upper Level Side sections.

Best Value to Get Close to the Action

Lower Level End sections offer the most affordable way to get close to the action at a Nets game. Seats in the front row of sections 1, 16, and 31 will place you just behind the premium VIP seats and could start from around $75.

The basket could obstruct your view here, so choose seats closer to the corner sections to minimize this problem.

Best Value for a Great View

Upper Level Side sections at center court will give you a good view of the entire court. Front row tickets could start at around $90, but the safety glass will affect the view from the first three rows.

Choose rows 4-5 for a better view and easier access to the concourse tunnel. Your ticket price might also be a little cheaper.

Best Value for Visiting Fans

If you’re supporting the visiting team at a Nets game, sections 118-120 will give you a clear, head-on view of your favorite players on the bench. Tickets here start at around $70-80.

You could also find tickets at the rear of Lower Level section 19 at a similar price. All these corner sections have a comfortable viewing angle down the court.

Best Premium And VIP Seats For A Brooklyn Nets Game

The Barclays Center seating plan includes excellent premium seating options for watching a Nets game.

The ticket prices listed below are an indication of the seat prices available on Ticketmaster. Premium Brooklyn Nets tickets may also be found on secondary market websites like StubHub.

Which Are The Best Seats for Families At Barclays Center?

Children under 2 years old don’t need their own ticket for all sports events and most concerts at Barclays Arena. However, they won’t be assigned their own seat and must sit on the lap of an accompanying adult ticket holder.

Children aged 2 years and older will require their own tickets and will be assigned seats.

This ticketing policy may vary between events, so check your specific event’s ticket policy before purchasing tickets.

Family-friendly Facilities

Parenting bags, plastic bottles, and formula can be brought into Barclays Center.

Nursing mothers can nurse their children in any location they feel comfortable. If you would like more privacy, you are welcome to use the First Aid stations at section 112 on the Main Concourse and section 212 on the Upper Concourse.

Restrooms, including all-gender restrooms, are available on each level of Barclays Center. Baby changing facilities are available in every restroom except those on the event level.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Barclays Center?

The visitor’s bench is in front of section 9, so this area is popular with visiting fans. If you’d prefer to see your team’s faces than the numbers on their shirts, choose Lower Level section 19 or Middle Level sections 118-120 for a head-on view.

Where To Sit At Barclays Center For The Best Food

Brooklyn Snacks concession at Barclays Center, New York City

Barclays Center offers a great selection of food and beverage concessions, including vegan/vegetarian, gluten-free, and kosher options.

Enjoy a Caribbean twist on your game day burger at Likkle More Jerk (section 23), a pulled pork or BBQ beef sandwich from Pig Beach (section 23), or a classic hot dog from Michelin-starred chef Saul Bolton (sections 8 and 225) or Nathan’s (section 206).

The arena also has several excellent bars, including the Modelo bar outside section 3 on the Main Concourse and the Corona bar at section 215 on the Upper Concourse.

The Hennessy Baseline Club is another excellent option, offering views into the arena bowl from its location at section 16 on the Main Concourse.

In-seat beverage service is provided to seats in rows 1-10 of sections 7-9 and 23-25. You can order your drinks using the QR code on your armrest, and you’ll need to provide a government-issued photo ID for delivery of alcoholic beverages.

Where To Sit For A Concert At Barclays Center

Most Barclays Center concerts have an end-stage set-up with the stage in front of sections 1 and 31. The floor layout can vary between events and your event may include fan pits, General Admission (GA) areas, and catwalks or B-stages.

Seats in sections behind the stage may be sold for some Barclays Center events. However, the view from this location won’t be great.

Floor Seats

Image Credit: Anonymous User, A View from my Seat.

Floor sections are popular with fans who want to get close to the stage. They may be set up as rows of reserved folding seats or as General Admission sections without seats.

Ticket prices for Field Seats are generally higher at the front and get lower as you move away from the stage. However, seats further from the stage make seeing the performer more difficult, especially for shorter visitors.

Standing spots in General Admission areas are available on a first-come-first-served basis, and fans may arrive very early to get the best spots. You could lose your place if you visit the restroom or concessions.

Side of the Stage

The view from Lower Level and Middle Level side sections varies depending on their location. You’ll enjoy a great view from close sections, but the viewing angle could be uncomfortable from seats in sections further away from the stage.

Sections 6-7 and 25-26 offer a comfortable side view from the side of the stage. These sections have stadium seating, and the elevated position gives a good view of the performers.

Head-on Seats

View of a concert from Section 117 at Barclays Center, New York City.
Image Credit: Hythloth, A View from my Seat.

Seats in Lower Level sections 15 and 17 are directly opposite the stage for concerts with an end-stage layout. They offer the most comfortable viewing angle, but you will be far from the stage and may not see the entire stage and performers very well.

Middle Level sections 115-117 are another good option, as they have a slightly higher elevation.

Even Upper Level sections 215 and 217 are worth considering, thanks to their unobstructed sightlines. However, you won’t see as much detail from upper levels as from closer seats.
