History Of Wells Fargo Center

The Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, illuminated in 76ers colors at night.

The Wells Fargo Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena and entertainment venue in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex in Philadelphia, PA. It’s the home of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings team.

Other venues in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex include Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field, and Xfinity Live!.

The Wells Fargo Center was built on the former site of the John F. Kennedy Stadium. It opened in August 1996, and replaced the Spectrum Arena as the home of the Flyers and 76ers, also known by fans as the Sixers.

On opening day, the venue was called Spectrum II, but it has had various names, including CoreStates Center, First Union Center, and Wachovia Center. Financial services company Wells Fargo took over Wachovia in 2008, and the arena has been known as Wells Fargo Center since then.

The official seating capacity of Wells Fargo Center is 20,318 for NBA basketball games and 19,541 for NHL hockey games. In practice, the total paid capacity is higher than this due to standing room admissions in luxury suites and the Assembly Room lounge.

The first event at the new arena was a private concert by Ray Charles on August 12, 1996, attended by 12,000 spectators. Since then, the arena has hosted concerts featuring a wide range of artists from Iron Maiden to Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift.

Standard Seating at Wells Fargo Center

The seating charts for Sixers and Flyers games at Wells Fargo Center feature standard seating on the Lower Level and Mezzanine Level.

The prices for Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers seats shown below are indicative pricing from Ticketmaster. Resale tickets may be less expensive, and you may also find tickets available on secondary market websites such as StubHub.

Lower Level Side (Philadelphia 76ers)

Lower Level seats along the sideline are some of the most popular seats at a Sixers game. These sections have up to 26 rows of seats with unobstructed views, and the front rows will get you close to your favorite players on the court.

Choose sections 101 and 113 to sit at mid-court and you’ll enjoy clear views of the whole court. Sections 102-103 will seat you behind the home bench, and the visiting team bench is behind section 123 and the adjacent section 124.

The section entrance on side sections is located at row 17. Sitting in rows around this area will give you easy access to the restrooms and concessions on the main concourse. You’ll also have a clear view of the court from this more elevated position.

Expect to pay prices starting around $200-300 for Sixers seats in this location.

Lower Level Corner (Philadelphia 76ers)

View from Lower Level section 105 for a basketball game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

Corner sections are some of the cheapest lower level seats for a 76ers game. The seat views vary, so choosing the right seats is essential for the best experience.

The views from rows near the front will be worse than higher rows for a basketball game. Avoid sitting below row 10 in sections 104, 110, 116, and 122, as these have particularly poor sightlines.

Sections 105, 109, 117, and 121 have better views, but the first 7 rows of sections 108-109 and 117-118 may have obstructed views.

Sitting near row 17 will give you a better view and easy access to the concourse tunnel.

76ers tickets in 100 Level Corner sections start at around $80-120 at the front. They may cost as little as $65 if you sit near the back of the section.

Lower Level End (Philadelphia 76ers)

View from Lower Level section 107 for a basketball game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

Sitting in end sections brings you close to the action at a 76ers game, but the view won’t necessarily be the best. The basket will likely obstruct your view of the court, but seats further back will have less of a problem.

You can keep track of the action at the other end of the court on the high-def screens of Wells Fargo Center’s large 4K video board.

Expect to pay prices from around $50 at the back of these sections or $85 if you sit near the front.

Lower Level Side (Philadelphia Flyers)

View from Lower Level section 101 for a hockey game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

Lower Level Side sections offer some of the best seats for a Flyers game, with views over the entire rink.

Seats in the front few rows of sections 112-113 are taken up by Shift4 club seats. Side sections have up to 23 rows of seating with the section entrance at row 17, so sitting here gives easier access to the concourse and a clear view of the ice.

Seats in section 124 are behind the Flyers bench, and visiting fans can sit behind their team’s bench in section 102. The penalty box is on the opposite side of the ice in front of section 113.

Standard seats in this area start at around $180 at center ice, but you may find seats around $135 further down the sideline.

Lower Level Corner (Philadelphia Flyers)

View from Lower Level section 105 for a hockey game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

Corner seats give a unique view of the game as it develops across and along the ice. These are large sections with 23-26 rows of seating, and if you choose sections 104-105 or 109-110, you’ll see the Flyers shoot twice directly in front of you.

The front rows of most corner sections will give you a great angle on puck battles in the corner right in front of you. However, the first 7 rows of sections 108-109 and 117-118 may have obstructed views, so take care choosing seats in these areas.

Seats in this location start at around $125 for seats towards the back of the section or $160 for seats nearer the front.

Lower Level End (Philadelphia Flyers)

View from Lower Level section 107 for a hockey game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

End section seats will give you a great view of the action at your end of the ice. The front rows of these sections are taken up by premium Shift4 club seats, but you’ll get a great view from the rows just behind.

Sections 106-108 are at the Flyers’ shoot-twice end, making them popular with home fans. Visitors will prefer to sit at the visiting team’s shoot-twice end in sections 118-120.

Prices for standard seats in 100 Level End sections start at $125-200. Seats at the Flyers shoot-twice end tend to be more expensive than the opposite end of the ice.

Mezzanine Level

View from Mezzanine Level section 201 for a hockey game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

The upper level of the Wells Fargo Center is known as the Mezzanine Level. Each section on the arena’s upper deck has around 15 rows of seats and offers a budget-friendly option for watching the Sixers or Flyers.

You’ll get a great view of the action from seats near the front of the section, just above Club Level. Seats at the back don’t offer such a good view, so you may be better off considering other options, such as the Assembly Room.

View from Lower Level section 204 for a basketball game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

Sixers fans will prefer seats in side sections close to center court or on a corner angle. These will give you a comfortable viewing angle without being obstructed by the basket.

If you’re watching the Philadelphia Flyers, end sections 204-210 are at the shoot-twice end for the home team. Visiting fans will prefer to sit at the opposite end of the ice in sections 216-222.

View from Mezzanine Level section 207A for a hockey game at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

You’ll find affordable options for either team on this level of Wells Fargo Center.

76ers tickets on the Mezzanine Level start at around $25-40 for corner and end sections or $50-100 at mid-court on the sideline.

Flyers tickets on the 200 Level start at $60-120, depending on the row.

Assembly Room

The Assembly Room at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.

The Assembly Room is an area at the top of the Wells Fargo Center where ticket holders can socialize and watch a Sixers or Flyers game. It features an open-plan lounge, social seating, and a range of refreshment options.

Ticket holders can choose to watch the game on one of the lounge’s TV screens or get a bird’s-eye view of the action from the Standing Room Only areas.

This option is ideal if you’re looking for cheap Flyers or Sixers tickets and don’t mind missing out on a reserved seat. Prices start at $35 for 76ers games and $25 for Flyers games, making them some of the cheapest NHL and NBA tickets.

Accessible Seating

ADA-accessible seating is available on all levels of Wells Fargo Center, including the Lower Level, Club Level, Mezzanine, and Suites. Guests requiring accessible seats can also purchase up to 3 companion seats.

Accessible seating at Wells Fargo Center can be purchased online. You can also purchase accessible seats in person at the Wells Fargo Center Box Office during the 3 hours before the event starts.

All accessible seating is wheelchair-accessible, and folding chairs are available for guests who do not use wheelchairs.

The Broad Street and 11th Street entrances to Wells Fargo Center are wheelchair accessible. Public elevators are located near the VIP Lobby entrances and at sections 109-110.

All restrooms at Wells Fargo Center are accessible. A private, unisex restroom is available behind the Guest Services Desk on the Broad Street side of the arena.

Restricted View Seating

Although most seats at Wells Fargo Center have excellent sightlines, there are some areas where your view could be restricted.

Seats in end sections for 76ers games may have their views obstructed by the basket.

Seats in the first 7 rows of sections 108-109 and 117-118 may have obstructed views.

Check the seating plan for your chosen event before purchasing tickets for further details.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Wells Fargo Center?

Standard seating at Wells Fargo Center offers affordable options for watching a Philadelphia 76ers or Philadelphia Flyers game.

Here’s our pick of the best value seats for a Flyers or 76ers game.

Best Value for Cheapest Price

The best value tickets at Wells Fargo Center can be found in the Assembly Room lounge. Although these don’t offer a reserved seat, you can relax with friends in the stylish lounge, view the game on one of the club’s TV screens, or watch the action from the Standing Room Only section.

Tickets start from $25 for Flyers games and $35 for 76ers games, making them a great value option.

If you’d prefer a reserved seat, Mezzanine Level end sections offer cheap seats for 76ers or Flyers games. Your ticket could cost as little as $25 for the Sixers and $60 for the Flyers.

Best Value to Get Close to the Action

Front row seats on the Lower Level will get you close to the game. However, many of these seats are taken up by premium seating options.

It’s worth checking out seats a few rows back, especially in Lower Level Side sections away from the court/ice center line. Prices can start at just $135-200, and you’ll still be pretty close to the action.

Best Value for a Great View

For the best value at a great price, front row seats in the Mezzanine Level Side sections are hard to beat. You’ll have excellent sightlines that are close to the view from the Club Level below but at a more affordable price. Ticket prices start at $50-100 for Sixers games and $60-120 for Flyers games.

Best Value for Visiting Fans

If you’re a visiting fan at a Flyers game, the visiting team’s shoot-twice end is in front of Lower Level sections 118-120. Avoid the front 7 rows of section 118, as some seats have obstructed views.

Seats in these sections will cost from $125, or you can pay around half that cost for seats in Mezzanine Level end sections 218-220.

The visitor’s bench at a 76ers game is in front of section 124. Front row seats in Mezzanine Level 224 will place you behind the bench but on the upper level, and your tickets will start at around $120.
