History Of Raymond James Stadium

Raymond James Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Tampa, Florida. It’s the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL), who used to play at Tampa Stadium before moving into Raymond James Stadium.

The stadium is named after Tampa Bay firm Raymond James Financial, which has held naming rights for the Raymond James Stadium since it was built. 

Raymond James Stadium has an open, symmetrical design similar to Nissan Stadium in Nashville, home of the Tennessee Titans. Large video boards take the place of seating sections in the middle and top tiers at each end zone. There’s also a distinctive replica pirate ship at the north end zone, which fires replica cannons during pre-game team introductions and whenever the Bucs score. 

Work began on the Buccaneers’ new home in October 1996, and the venue opened on September 20, 1998, with a 27–15 win against the Chicago Bears. The stadium has a maximum seating capacity of 69,218 for most events, but this can be increased to about 75,000 with temporary seating. 

Three Super Bowls have been played at Raymond James Stadium, and the Bucs are two-time winners of the Super Bowl, most recently in 2021 with legendary quarterback, Tom Brady. 

Other major events played at Raymond James Stadium include the Tampa Bay Bowl, Reliaquest Bowl, and Gasparilla Bowl, and the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship. The stadium also hosts the USF Bulls football team, and has hosted soccer matches, monster truck shows, and live music concerts by stars including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Kenny Chesney.

Standard Seating at Raymond James Stadium

The seating chart at Raymond James Stadium has standard seating all around the stadium’s lower bowl, in corner sections on the 200 level, and in corner and sideline sections of the upper deck. 

The prices below are indicative of pricing available on Ticketmaster. You may find cheaper Buccaneers’ tickets for preseason games or on secondary market websites like StubHub. 

100 Level

The Lower Level at Raymond James Stadium covers sections 102-151, each with around 30 rows of seating. ADA-accessible seating and concourse tunnels are located near the last row of 100 Level sections. 

Buccaneers Cove is the large social space above sections 145-151, where you’ll also find the stadium’s famous pirate ship. 

Lower Level Sideline

Lower Level Sideline sections offer some of the best standard seats at Raymond James Stadium, with great views from within 27-30 rows of the field. 

The Buccaneers bench is in front of sections 109-112, while the visiting team sits in front of sections 134-137. Seats near the front will get you closer to your favorite players, but your view might be impeded by players standing on the sideline. 

Choosing seats a bit further back will give you a better view of the game from a more elevated position. You’ll also be close to the concourse tunnel at the back of the section. Many football fans prefer the home side of the stadium as the sun sets behind that side of the field, so you don’t have the sun in your eyes. 

You’ll find the best view at midfield, which is reflected in higher ticket prices for seats on the 50 yard line. Moving further down the sideline towards the corners will bring down the cost.

Sections on the 50-yard line at Raymond James Stadium, like sections 110-111, are in high demand. Expect to pay prices from $400-700 for a front-row seat or $350-500 if you sit in higher rows. 

If you choose sections further towards the 20-yard line, like sections 108 or 113, you could pay $300-600 for tickets near the front and $200-400 further back. 

Lower Level Corner 

Lower Level Corner seating is available in all four corners of the lower bowl at Raymond James Stadium. Most of these sections have 27 rows of standard seating.

These sections give you a diagonal view of the field, and you’ll get a great view of scoring plays in the end zone near you. Seat views are generally better from corner sections next to the end zone (such as sections 102, 119, 127, and 144) and from higher rows with better elevation. 

The Bucs enter the field through the home team tunnel between sections 118-119. If you’re a visiting fan, you might prefer seats in sections 102-103, which are on either side of the visiting team’s tunnel.

Sections 140-145 are near the Buccaneer Cove and Pirate Ship, while sections 217-220 are close to the Party Deck.

Seats in Lower Level Corner sections start from around $150-200, making them a great value way to watch a Bucs game.

Lower Level End Zone

Raymond James Stadium’s lower tier is the only level that has seating at the end zones. Most of these sections have 27 rows of seating, and the front rows are just a few feet from the field. 

Lower Level End Zone sections will give you an excellent view of every field goal at your end of the field. The large video boards will keep you up to date when the action moves to the opposite end, so you won’t miss a play.

If you choose sections 146-150, your seats will be just below the Pirate Ship and Buccaneer Cove, making this a popular location for Buccaneers fans.

Lower Level End Zone seating is another affordable way to watch the Buccaneers, with prices starting from $150-200. 

200 Level Corner

Sideline sections on the 200 Level at Raymond James Stadium are reserved for premium club seating, but you’ll find standard seating in Middle Level Corner sections.

Most of these corner sections have 26-30 rows of seating, and the front rows of section 245 are very close to the Pirate Ship and Buccaneer Cove. 

The views from Middle Level Corner sections aren’t as good as sideline views. However, sections 216-220 are the first seats at Raymond James Stadium to receive any shade from the Florida sun, which makes them cooler, more comfortable, and highly desirable. 

Ticket prices for 200 Level Corner seats are generally around $150-250 but may be more expensive above the player tunnels.

Krewe’s Nest

Krewe’s Nest sections 1-8 are located above sections 120-126 in the south endzone of Raymond James Stadium. Each section has around 25 rows of standard seats, with the entrance tunnel at the front of the section. 

Seats in the Krewe’s Nest have a head-on view of the game and a good view of the north video board. These sections also offer more shade than most seats at Raymond James Stadium, thanks to their location beneath the south video board. 

300 Level

The upper tier at Raymond James Stadium usually has the cheapest tickets for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. It has seating in sections 302-319 and 327-344, with no seating at either end zone. 

Most 300 level sections have 30 rows of regular seating behind a single row of ADA-accessible seating.

Choosing the lowest row possible will give you better field views.You may prefer to buy lower seats in Upper Level Corner sections instead of sitting further back on the sidelines.

Upper Level Sideline 

The upper tier at Raymond James Stadium has large, steep sections with 30 rows of seats behind a row of accessible seating. 

Seats towards the front of Upper Level Sideline sections will give you a good view over the entire field, especially from midfield sections 310-311 on the west side and 335-336 on the east. You’ll also avoid a long walk to and from the entry tunnel. 

However, shorter visitors should avoid rows A and E, as the safety railing can obstruct the seat view here. 

Seats in higher rows of Upper Level Sideline sections don’t offer such a good view, but the payoff is cheaper ticket pricing. However, you might get a better view in Upper Level Corner sections for the same price. 

Expect to pay prices from $150-200 for seats at the front of midfield sections or as little as $75-100 further back. If you move closer to the corners, your tickets could cost around $60-100.

Upper Level Corner

Upper Level Corner sections are some of the furthest seats from the field, but they’re also a good place to find cheap Bucs tickets. 

The views are generally better from the sections closer to the end zone, such as sections 302-303, rather than next to the sideline (section 305). You’ll also find better views from lower rows in these corner sections than high rows in Upper Level Sideline sections. 

The entrance tunnel and a row of accessible seating are at the front of each Upper Level Corner section. Row A of regular seating is behind these, and choosing rows near the front will avoid a long walk up steep stairs to your seat. 

These seats offer great value, and prices can start from $100 for seats near the front of the section or $60 nearer the back.

Accessible Seating

ADA-accessible seating is available at all price points throughout Raymond James Stadium. Gurney viewing positions are also available at both end zones.  

Raymond James Stadium has ADA-compliant ramps at each stadium entrance gate. These extend between the levels of the stadium and have in-built escalators for easier access.

Escalators can be found at Gate B, the Ford Gate, the Suzuki Marine Gate, and the Fifth Third Bank Gate. Each of the stadium clubs also has escalators. 

Elevators reserved for guests with disabilities are located near the Ford Gate and Suzuki Marine Gate. Additional elevators in each of the stadium clubs are also available for club ticket holders with disabilities.

Restricted View Seating

Most seats at Raymond James Stadium have good views of the field. However, if you’re on the short side, avoid rows A and E in Upper Level Sideline sections. These seats may have their views blocked by the safety railing.

Which Seats Are Shaded At Raymond James Stadium?

Best seats for a concert at Raymond James Stadium

The stage configuration for Raymond James Stadium concerts varies between events, but the most common layout is an end-stage setup with the stage near sections 121-125. The set design could feature catwalks, B-stages, and general admission areas. 

Field Sections

The seats closest to the stage are known as Field Seats or Floor Seats. A ticket in these areas will give you a reserved seat in a specific section/row number, with folding chairs facing the stage. As you look at the stage from the field, the right side of the field will be sunnier than the left.

The price of tickets in this area is usually higher for seats near the front and cheaper for seats further from the stage. You may find it hard to see the performers beyond the first few rows, especially if you’re shorter than average or are bringing kids to the event.

General Admission

If your show has General Admission areas, your ticket will give you admission to a specific area on the field, but you won’t have a seat or assigned standing space.

Parking at Raymond James Stadium

All parking spaces at Raymond James Stadium are available on a first-come-first-served basis. 

There are around 10,000 parking spaces on-site at the stadium and a further 15,000 spaces available off-site. Advance purchase is available for Buccaneers games, Bulls games, and certain other events at Raymond James Stadium. Payment can also be made using cashless payment methods when you arrive at the parking lot. 

ADA parking spaces are available in Lots A/3D and B/C. These spaces are reserved for ticket holders with an ADA parking permit and are available on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Arriving by Public Transportation

Bus lines 7, 32, 36, and 45 run from Tampa to M L King Jr Blvd, a short walk from the stadium. 

There are only limited services available, so you may find it easier to travel by taxi or rideshare options. 

Ridesharing arrangements

If you plan to travel to Raymond James Stadium by taxi, Uber, or Lyft, you’ll find a drop-off location at the Mass Transit Turnaround north of the stadium. You can cross the road via the pedestrian bridge nearby. 

There are also ADA drop off points for guests with disabilities at parking lots A, B/C, and D.

When To Arrive For A Tampa Bay Buccaneers Game

Raymond James Stadium has four general entry gates, and your ticket will indicate which one you should use. These gates open 1.5 hours before the scheduled kickoff.

If you have club seats or suite tickets, you can use the specific gate for the Hyundai West Club or the East Club. These gates open 2.5 hours before the scheduled kickoff. 

ADA-accessible entrances can be found near the ramps at the Suzuki Marine gate and the Ford gate.

Whichever gate you use, you should arrive early and aim to be in your seat at least 15 minutes before kickoff for The Raid. This is the high-energy pre-game entertainment that sets the stage for the Bucs to take the field.

Contactless Entry

You can manage your Bucs tickets through the Tampa Bay Buccaneers official mobile app, which is available for Apple and Android mobile devices.

All adult ticket holders should download their individual tickets to their mobile phones before arriving at the stadium and turn the brightness up to the highest level for easy scanning. Printed tickets and screenshots are not accepted. 

Reverse ATMs

Like many NFL stadiums, Raymond James Stadium is now a cashless venue. 

The ticket office, retail locations, and concession stands are all cashless, and you can make payments via Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

If you need to convert cash to a prepaid debit card, you will find reverse ATMs inside the stadium near section 143 and outside the stadium between Suzuki Marine Gate and Fifth Third Bank Gate.

Bag Policy

Raymond James Stadium has a No Bag policy for all events and you are only permitted to bring in 1 clutch bag no bigger than 4.5 x 6.5”. All other bags, including clear bags, will not be allowed in. You will have to take them back to your vehicle or rent a storage locker on Tom McEwen Blvd, south of Gate Suzuki Marine.

No drinks vessels, including thermoses, cans, and glass or plastic bottles, may be taken into the stadium. 

Fans and all bags will be checked before admission into Raymond James Stadium, and any fans who refuse will not be allowed into the stadium. 

Tailgating

Tailgating is permitted in parking lots at Raymond James Stadium, but you must follow stadium policies and tailgating guidelines.

These include ensuring that you only take up one parking space and that tailgating only takes place behind your own vehicle. You should keep all drive lanes clear for emergency access, and tailgating must finish by the scheduled kickoff time.
