History Of Huntington Bank Field

Huntington Bank Field is an American football stadium in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It sits on a 31-acre site in downtown Cleveland with Lake Erie as a backdrop, and is home to the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.  

Other major sports venues in Cleveland include Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, and Progressive Field which hosts the MLB’s Cleveland Guardians.

The stadium was built on the site of the Browns’ previous home field, Cleveland Stadium, which was their home between 1931 and 1995. The old stadium was demolished in 1996, and work on the new stadium started in 1997. 

Huntington Bank Field was completed in July 1999. The first match held in the new stadium was a preseason game between the Browns and the Minnesota Vikings on August 21, 1999. The first regular season NFL game for the Cleveland Browns in their new home was a 43-0 defeat by the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 12, 1999

The stadium was initially known as Cleveland Browns Stadium and was renamed  “FirstEnergy Stadium, Home of the Cleveland Browns” in February 2013. This naming rights deal was canceled in April 2023, and the original name was restored. In September 2024, the Browns announced a new naming rights deal with Columbus-based Huntington Bank. 

Huntington Bank Field had an original maximum capacity of 73,200, but this was reduced to 67,431 following renovations completed in 2014. It has a fairly symmetrical design similar to other stadiums built around the same time, such as Lincoln Financial Field or Paul Brown Stadium.

In addition to home games for the Browns, the stadium hosts live music concerts and other events, including soccer games, college football, and high school football.

Standard Seating At Huntington Bank Field

The ticket price information below is indicative pricing for regular season games from Ticketmaster. You can also pick up NFL tickets from secondary market sites like StubHub. Prices vary between games, and you may find cheaper tickets available for preseason games.

100 Level

All 100 level seats are within 40 rows of the field, allowing you to watch the game from up close.

Choosing seats further back in a Lower Level section will give you a slightly more elevated view of the field. You’ll also have a better chance of shade and will be closer to the concourse tunnel located around rows 20-25.

Lower Level Sideline 

Lower Level sideline sections offer some of the best standard seating options for a Cleveland Browns game. 

These sections have either 26 or 32 rows of seating. Seats in the first few rows will give you some of the closest views in the stadium, although you might struggle to see over the players on the sidelines. 

Choosing seats in rows 30-40 eliminates this problem, giving you some of the best views at Huntington Bank Field. 

Sections 127-139 are behind the home team sideline and tend to be snapped up by Browns fans with season tickets. Sections 102-113 are popular with visiting fans who want to sit behind their team’s sideline. 

The popularity of lower level sideline seating means that they’re also some of the most expensive Brown’s tickets. You can expect to pay around $800-1000 for front-row tickets at midfield or $400 if you’re further back in the 50-yard sections. Move a little further down the sideline, and tickets fall to prices around $400 for the front row and $300 further back.

Lower Level Corner 

Lower Level Corner seats give you a great view of the developing game as the ball moves across and along the field. You’ll have an excellent view of scoring plays at the near end of the field but might struggle to follow the action at the other end. 

Lower Level Corner sections are some of the biggest sections in the stadium, with 33 to 40 numbered rows of seating. Higher rows will give you better sightlines and seat you closer to the entry tunnel. 

Sections 101-102 overlook the visitor’s entry tunnel, and sections 141-144 are over the home team tunnel. These sections are very popular with football fans who want to get close to their favorite players as they run onto the field. 

Ticket prices in Lower Level corner sections start at around $150-200.

Lower Level End Zone 

Lower Level end zone seating is available at both ends of the field. These are good seats for watching scoring plays and near-misses at your end of the field.

The uprights might obstruct your view slightly, but you’ll have an excellent view of the large video boards at the opposite end. 

These sections have 40 rows of seating, and the rear part of the section is sheltered by an overhang. 

Tickets in the west end zone cost around $250-300 for front rows and $125-175 for rows further back. 

The rows of bleacher seating at the east end zone make up part of the Dawg Pound area. 

Dawg Pound Seats

The Dawg Pound is one of the NFL’s most iconic seating areas, and you’ll find the loudest, most passionate Cleveland Browns fans sitting here. If you’re unsure where it is, just look for a large area of masked, jersey-wearing fans!.

This area covers Lower Level sections 118-122 and Mezzanine Level sections 317-323.

If you choose the lower portions of the Dawg Pound, you’ll be sitting on bleacher seats with back supports. However, most fans in this area stand for long periods of the game.

The higher sections have traditional stadium seating, and the atmosphere is usually less rowdy. 

Expect to pay $200-400 for tickets in the lower level seats and $150-200 for seats in the upper part of the Dawg Pound.

Mezzanine Level

The Mezzanine Level covers 300-level sections 317-323 and 340-350 that don’t offer club access. 

This area is a good compromise if you don’t want to pay the high cost of lower level seats but don’t want to sit in the upper deck. You’ll get a club level view but without the premium prices. 

These seats have elevated sightlines from the corners and end zones of Huntington Bank Field. They also give you a good view of the video boards so you can follow the game at the opposite end of the field. 

Sections 317-323 are in the Dawg Pound area, so only book those tickets if you enjoy a rowdy game day atmosphere.

Tickets for the other Mezzanine Level sections (340-350) start at around $200-300 for the front rows or as low as $100 for seats near the back of the section. 

500 Level

Although the upper deck at Huntington Bank Field offers the cheapest seating for a Browns game, these sections can still provide good sightlines.

Most of the seats are along the sidelines and in the corner sections. If you can find tickets in rows 5 or lower, you’ll get a good view angled towards the 50-yard line. 

Most 500 level sections have 25+ rows, so you’ll need to walk up and down a long set of steps to reach seats in the last possible row. Choosing seats below row 10 will give you a shorter walk to the concourse, while rows 20 and above have the benefit of being under cover in most sections. 

Upper Level Sideline 

Upper Level sideline sections offer the most affordable sideline seats at Huntington Bank Field. The view will be better if you sit on the lower tiers, but the price savings can be very attractive. 

Seats in the first few rows will give you a great view of the whole field from this elevated position. Choose sections 530-537 if you’re a Browns fan or sections 505-512 for a better view of the visiting team sideline.

Sections on the visitor’s side of the field will also benefit from the sun setting behind them. 

As with Lower Level seats, sections on the 50-yard line tend to be more expensive. Expect to pay around $300 for seats at the front of the section or as little as $100 if you’re prepared to climb up to seats near the back. 

Sections further down the sideline toward the 20-yard line could cost around $200 for the front row and as little as $75 further back. This makes them a great value option for watching the Browns play. 

Upper Level Corner 

Corner sections on the 500 Level are the best place to look for cheap seats at a Browns game. However, you’ll also have some of the worst views in the stadium, and sitting high up in the corners can be pretty cold and windy. 

Your view of the near end zone will be pretty decent, but you’ll need to follow the action at the opposite end on the stadium’s large video boards. 

Sections 541-543 are a designated Family Zone, where alcohol is prohibited. Family-friendly activities nearby make this a great place for fans with young children to sit. 

Prices in these sections can start around $120 at the front and as little as $60 at the back of the section.

ADA-accessible seating is available on all levels at Huntington Bank Field, and you should contact the ticket office to enquire about availability.

Deck Seating

Huntington Bank Field has deck seating areas underneath the scoreboards in each end zone. These include:

• Family Zone in rows 1-19 of section 351
• Bud Light Balcony in rows 1-8 of section 317A

The cheapest seats at Huntington Bank Field can be found in the Upper Level corner sections, which may only cost you around $60 for seats near the back. However, you’re pretty far from the field, and the view from these seats isn’t great.

You’ll get a better view for around $75 if you choose Upper Level sideline sections near the 20-yard line. 

Best Value To Get Close To The Action

Sections 108-109 and 133-134 are on either side of the 50-yard line, and these are the best places to get a great view of the team benches. However, tickets here could cost around $1000. 

If this is out of your price range, pick seats toward the rear of the section. You’ll still have excellent sightlines over the whole field, and tickets cost around $400.

Another good option is to buy tickets in the front rows of Lower Level end zone sections such as sections 146-147. These seats will bring you within a few feet of scoring plays and cost around $300-400.

The best way to experience the lively atmosphere at a Browns game is to head to the Dawg Pound fan section in sections 118-121 and 317-323.

If you choose the Mezzanine level sections 317-323, you’ll have stadium seating and pay just $150-200 for your tickets. The atmosphere here is slightly more restrained than in the metal bleachers on the lower level.

7UP City Club

The 7UP City Club is located on the south side of the stadium on the 300 level. Members enjoy wider, padded stadium seating and access to a shared, climate-controlled club lounge with flat-screen HD TVs, high-quality food vendors, and two Tito’s Bars.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Huntington Bank Field?

The visiting team sideline at Huntington Bank Field runs in front of sections 107-110, while the visiting team’s tunnel is between sections 101 and 102. These field-level sections are popular with visiting fans, but they also have some of the highest standard seating prices in the stadium. 

A more affordable alternative is to sit in seats at the front of sections 507-510. These are close to midfield and have a great elevated view of the whole field.

Transportation And Parking At A Cleveland Browns Home Game

Huntington Bank Field is located at 100 Alfred Lerner Way, Cleveland, Cleveland, OH 44114.

If you’re driving to the stadium, using the I-90 exits at Ontario, East 9th, Prospect, or Superior will give you easy access to downtown parking lots. 

Parking at Huntington Bank Field

Parking lots at the Stadium are reserved for pass holders, and you can manage your parking pass through the Browns mobile app and your mobile wallet. 

If you don’t have reserved parking, several parking lots are available within a short walk of the stadium. You can book these parking lots through the Cleveland Browns SpotHero Parking page.

Limited ADA parking is located to the north and west of the stadium. This parking is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, and payment must be made in cash only. ADA parking is only available to guests with a reserved parking pass or ADA-compliant placard. 

Arriving by Public Transportation

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has four Rapid rail lines that serve downtown Cleveland. The Red, Blue, Green, and Waterfront lines meet at the Tower City Center terminal, about a 15-minute walk from Huntington Bank Field.

Parking is free at Rapid stations, and you can use the RTA Transit app to buy your ticket or purchase one from a ticket vending machine at an RTA rail station.

Ridesharing arrangements

The drop-off and pick-up location for rideshares is Lakeside Avenue, between West 3rd and East 9th.

Huntington Bank Field has 10 stadium gates in total. 4 are used for general admission, and the remaining 6 are reserved for suite and premium club ticket holders. 2 of these premium gates are also designated for use by ticket holders with disabilities or medical exceptions.

All gates open 2 hours before the scheduled start time for Cleveland Browns home games. The gate opening times may vary for other events.

Contactless Entry

Huntington Bank Field uses contactless entry to make your entry into the stadium swift and hassle-free. You can choose from two options:

Express Access Entry uses facial authentication technology to identify you. You’ll need to enroll before your visit, and then your face will be scanned at the gate, allowing you and anyone else with a ticket on your account to enter the stadium. 

You can also use the Cleveland Browns mobile app to manage your tickets for contactless entry. You should ensure that all adults have downloaded their ticket to the app on their mobile phone, ideally at least 24 hours before your visit. Screenshots or printed copies of tickets will not work.

Reverse ATMs

Huntington Bank Field is a cashless venue. All purchases can be made using debit or credit cards and mobile apps such as Google Wallet or Apple Pay. 

If you would like to convert cash to a prepaid debit card, you’ll find Cash to Card Machines at the following locations:

• 100 Level sections 108 and 147
• 300 Level section 341
• 500 Level sections 515 and 537

Bag Policy

Like other NFL venues, Huntington Bank Field has a clear bag policy that limits the size and type of bag you can take into the stadium. All guests and their possessions will be searched before entering the stadium. 

Your bag should be made of clear plastic, PVC, or vinyl and no larger than 12” x 12” x 6”. This bag can be a clear cinch bag, backpack, or fanny pack if it meets the maximum dimensions.

Alternatively, you can use a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag like a Ziploc bag.

Diaper bags and bags containing medically necessary items are permitted after inspection. If you are taking these items into the stadium, use the medical exception entrance at the South 7UP City Club entrance.

If your bag is not allowed into the stadium, you should return it to your car or check it at the bag check tents at the stadium’s southwest corner.

Tailgating

There are plenty of great tailgating spots surrounding Huntington Bank Field, including West Third Lot, one of the closest tailgating locations to the stadium. Gourmet tailgaters head to 1101 W. Ninth St, where the Pit hosts tailgate parties with seriously good menus.

The Muni Lot at 1500 S. Marginal Road has a great party atmosphere. If you want a more low-key venue, head to Burke Lakefront Airport Lot at 1501 N. Marginal Road.
