History Of Nissan Stadium Nashville

Nissan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and home to the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL) and Tennessee State Tigers football team. It’s also the home venue of the postseason TransPerfect Music City Bowl football game and hosted the Nashville SC MLS soccer team between 2020 and 2021.

Nissan Stadium was designed as a new home for the Titans, who previously played at the Houston Astrodome among other venues. It’s a large stadium with a maximum seating capacity of 69,143. The stadium has an open design with three tiers of seating.

The Tennessee Titan’s first regular season game at their new stadium took place on September 12, 1999, with a 36-35 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

In addition to NFL and college football games, other Nissan Stadium events include soccer games and live music concerts by artists such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and George Strait.

A replacement for the Nissan Stadium is currently under construction next to the existing stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Designed as a 60,000-seat domed stadium, the New Nissan Stadium is due to open in 2027, and the current stadium will then be demolished. 

Standard Seating at Nissan Stadium

Standard seating at Nissan Stadium is available on the 100 and 300 levels, but only the lowest tier has seating sections around the whole bowl.

Rows at Nissan Stadium are lettered A-Z and then in larger sections they start again with row AA. Rows I, O, and II are excluded, so they can’t be mistaken for numbers.

Nissan Stadium 100 Level

The lower bowl of Nissan Stadium has standard seating in sideline, corner, and end zone sections. Each section has up to 35 rows with the entry tunnel at the back, so choose seats further back for quicker trips to the concourse.

Lower Level Sideline 

Sections along the sidelines on the lowest tier offer some of the best views at Nissan Stadium. 

Each of these large sections has up to 35 lettered rows of seating, with Row A closest to the field. The entry tunnels are located at the back of the section, so fans sitting at the front will have the longest walk to the concourse. 

Choose seats at midfield in sections 134-136 if you want to sit behind the home team bench or in sections 111-113 to be close to the visiting team’s bench. These sections are very popular and give you a great view of the entire field. They have the most expensive standard seats at Nissan Stadium, with prices starting around $750-1000 for Row A and $300-500 towards the back of the stadium. 

Sections closer to the 20 yard line tend to be cheaper, with ticket prices around $500-700 for the front of the section and $250-350 further back. The views are still great from this position, making these sections a more affordable option for field-level seats at Nissan Stadium. 

Lower Level Corner 

The views from 100 Level Corner sections aren’t as good as sideline views, but the tickets also cost less than sideline seats.

You’ll enjoy great views of scoring plays at your end of the stadium, however the view of the game at the opposite end of the field won’t be so good. Luckily, Nissan Stadium’s large video boards make it easy to follow the action.

Most Lower Level Corner sections have up to 35 rows of seating, starting at Row A nearest the field. Sections 105 and 142 have fewer rows as they are located directly above the player tunnels. If you want a great view of your football heroes entering the field, choose sections 142-143 for the Titans tunnel and 105-106 for the visiting team tunnel. 

Tickets in Lower Level Corner sections cost around $250-450 near the front of the sections and $175-200 further back.

Lower Level End Zone

The Lower Level is the only tier that has end-zone seating. You’ll enjoy a head-on view of the field and can follow the game at the opposite end of the stadium on the video board. 

These are large sections with up to 35 lettered rows of seating, and row A is at the front of the section. Choosing seats further back in the section will give you an elevated view that makes it easier to follow the action. 

These sections are also close to the open-air concourses at each end of the stadium. These concourses have picnic tables and a good range of concession stands, making them a great place to socialize with friends.

100 Level End Zone tickets are likely to cost from $500-750 for front-row seats, thanks to the great view of scoring plays. Seats further back tend to be more affordable, with prices starting at around $200. 

300 Level

The upper tier has the most affordable seats at Nissan Stadium, making it ideal for football fans who don’t want to blow the budget on their Titans tickets. Choose seats on the stadium’s west side for a view of the Nashville skyline. 

There’s no end zone seating on this tier, so all Upper Level sections are on the sideline or corners. Each section has 30+ rows, so if you choose rows near the back, you’ll have a long walk up steep steps to reach your seat.

Upper Level Sideline

Sections 311-313 and 334-336 offer great views of the entire field, especially if you choose rows close to the entrance tunnel at Row G. Expect tickets to cost around $150-200 at the front of midfield sections and $140-175 further back.

Upper Level Corner 

Upper Level Corner seating has the furthest views of the field at Nissan Stadium. The stadium’s east corner (sections 316-321) has the most sun during day games, while sections 339-344 will have the sun behind them earlier than any other corner sections.

The visitors’ sideline for Tennessee Titans games is in front of sections 111-113, and the visiting team enters the field through the tunnel between sections 105 and 106.

If you’re attending a Tennessee State game, the sideline locations are reversed, so visiting fans will want to sit behind sections 134-136.

Most concerts at Nissan Stadium have an end-stage setup, with the main stage at the stadium’s north end. The stage often blocks certain areas at the end of the stadium, such as sections 101-104 and 143-146. 

Seats behind the stage are not always sold; if they are available, you won’t get a good view of the performance from these locations.

Layouts vary between events, and your event could include features like General Admission (GA) seating, B-stages, catwalks, and fan pits.

Field Seats

Most Nissan Stadium events have reserved seating in Field sections labeled Field A to Field D. However, Field Seat sections for the annual CMA Music Festival are usually numbered.

General Admission

Side sections near the stage, like sections 110-111 and 136-137, have a great viewing angle from a slightly elevated position.

Parking at Nissan Stadium

Very limited parking is available on-site at Nissan Stadium, and additional parking in downtown Nashville is also available. If you want to park at the stadium, you must pre-purchase your parking pass before traveling to the stadium. 

Nissan Stadium has accessible parking spaces. All campus parking lots require a Nissan Stadium or Titans-issued parking pass.

Accessible parking is available for drivers with an ADA placard or license plate, which must be displayed along with your Titans-issued parking pass. All accessible parking spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis, and parking costs vary. 

Arriving by Public Transportation

Due to the limited parking, public transportation is a popular way to travel to Nissan Stadium. 

InShuttle offers an excellent park-and-ride service known as the Titan Fan Express on regular-season game days. The service to the stadium runs from 90 minutes before kickoff until 15 minutes after kickoff.

Ridesharing arrangements

Rideshare drop-off and pick-up locations can be found on Interstate Drive and at S. 2nd Street and Crutcher Street.

A separate ADA drop-off and pick-up location is available at S. 2nd Street and Victory Street. This is reserved for visitors with an ADA Drop-Off Lane pass issued by Nissan Stadium, which does not allow parking on-site.

When To Arrive For A Tennessee Titans Game

All gates at Nissan Stadium events open two hours before the scheduled kickoff for Titans home games, and you’re encouraged to arrive early for your event. 

Nissan Stadium has 10 gates numbered 1 to 10, which are all ADA-accessible. Fans with standard tickets may enter through any numbered gate, while the Stadium Club entrances are reserved for Club and Suite Level ticket holders.

Gate opening times may vary for other Nissan Stadium events. 

Logistics at Nissan Stadium

Contactless Entry

Parking passes, Tennessee Titans games, and all other Nissan Stadium events are now mobile only. You should ensure that all adults have their tickets downloaded to the Titans Mobile App before you arrive at the stadium. 

Printed tickets or screenshots are not accepted. If you don’t have a mobile device that can run the Titans mobile app, the box office charges $15 fee per ticket for printing.

Reverse ATMs

Nissan Stadium is a totally cashless stadium. All purchases at vendors, concessions orders, and parking fees must be paid using credit card and mobile payment apps, including the TitansPay mobile app. 

If you wish to convert cash into a prepaid debit card, you’ll find a reverse ATM behind section 124. 

Bag Policy

If you want to bring a bag into Nissan Stadium, it must meet the NFL Clear Bag Policy requirements.

You may bring 1 clear bag into the stadium, which must be 12″ x 12″ x 6″ or smaller. Your clear bag can also be a clear cinch bag, clear diaper bag, or 1-gallon Ziploc bag.

You can also bring a smaller, non-clear bag measuring no more than 4.5″ x 6.5″.

Medically-necessary items can be brought into the stadium via any of the gates. 

Empty, clear plastic water bottles can be brought into the stadium, and you can also carry or wear jackets, coats, and blankets for cold weather. 

However, Nissan Stadium encourages fans not to bring bags into the venue. All bags must be checked upon entry, including clear bags, so leaving your bag at home will speed your entry into the stadium.

Prohibited items and oversized or non-transparent bags can be returned to your car or left in the rental lockers available at Gates 3 and 9. You can find a full list of prohibited items on the Nissan Stadium website.

Tailgating

Because Nissan Stadium is close to the Cumberland River, there are only limited options for tailgating at the stadium. Where tailgating is permitted, you must follow the guidelines, such as only tailgating directly behind your vehicle and not taking up more than one parking space. 

You can’t save parking spaces for other drivers, gas grills are not permitted, and you must dispose of your hot coals properly before leaving your vehicle.
