History Of Crypto.com Arena

Crypto.com Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located next to the Los Angeles Convention Center complex in downtown Los Angeles, CA. It hosts a variety of sports and entertainment events and is home to the L.A. Lakers NBA basketball team and the L.A. Kings NHL hockey team.

Crypto.com Arena opened on October 17, 1999, under the original name of the Staples Center. Until 2024, the arena was also home to the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA, who now play at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. At the time, it was the only NBA arena shared by two teams. 

The maximum seating capacity at Crypto.com Arena is 19,067 for basketball games and 18,145 for ice hockey games. The venue’s attendance record is 20,820, set in January 2009 at a boxing match between World WBA Welterweight Champion Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley.

The arena is also a popular venue for music performances. It has been the most frequent host of the Grammy Awards since 1999 and has featured major concerts by some of the biggest names in music including Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, and Bruce Springsteen.

Crypto.com Arena has hosted various other world-class events, including the WTA Tennis Tour Championships, the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, and the Summer X Games indoor competitions. It will be the venue for the gymnastics event at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games.

Standard Seating at Crypto.com Arena

Crypto.com Arena has standard seating available on the 100, 200, and 300 Levels. Choosing the right seats will make a difference to your experience, and budget-friendly options are available on all three main levels of the arena.

100 Level

Lower bowl seats at Crypto.com Arena bring you close to the rink or court, which makes them the most expensive standard seats for a Kings or Lakers game.

100 Level sections have their entrance tunnel at the top of the section. Sitting nearer the back will give you easier access to the restrooms and concessions on the Main Concourse, but rows at the front of the section are closer to the action and give a better view of the game. 

100 Level Side Sections (L.A. Lakers)

100 Level Side sections at a Lakers game have up to 22 rows of seating, with lettered rows A and B followed by 20 numbered rows of seating. 

Sections 101 and 111 have a good view of the whole court from the midcourt line, and the home bench at a Lakers game is in front of section 119.

Expect to pay from around $700-800 for seats just behind the premium seats in the front row or around $300-500 further back. 

100 Level Corner Sections (L.A. Lakers)

100 Level corner sections for a Lakers game at Crypto.com Arena vary in shape and size, with up to 28 rows of seats. 

Rows at the front will give you a good angled view of the action, but the view from the rear of the section won’t be great.

Corner seats on the 100 Level at Crypto.com Arena will start at around $200-300, depending on location.

100 Level End Sections (L.A. Lakers)

End sections on the 100 Level have up to 13 lettered rows followed by up to 20 numbered rows.

Your view from these sections may be obstructed by the basket. Sitting further back in the section can give you a better view of the court as well as easier access to the Main Concourse.

Tickets in the front row of these sections could start from $400-600, but you might find seats further back costing as little as $140.

100 Level Side Sections (L.A. Kings)

Sections 101 and 111 are positioned on the middle line and will give you a good view across the whole of the ice. Some fans prefer these seats to Premier Seats on the 200 Level because of the closer proximity to the action. 

The home bench at a Kings game is in front of section numbers 101-102.

The front row of these sections is taken up by premium Delta Sky360 Club seats. Standard seats start from $160 for sections on the middle line and $137 further along the side of the ice.

100 Level Corner Sections (L.A. Kings)

Corner sections on the 100 Level for a Kings game at Crypto.com Arena vary in shape and size. If you sit in the rows nearer the ice, you’ll get a good view of puck battles in your corner of the rink. Seats towards the back of the section won’t give you such a good view of the game.

Kings will shoot twice in front of sections 113-114 and 117-118.

Seats in 100 Level Corner sections have ticket prices starting from $120.

100 Level End Sections (L.A. Kings)

End sections on the 100 Level have up to 31 rows of seating, so there will be a big difference in the view between the front and back of the section. 

The front row of these sections is taken up by premium Delta Sky360 Club seats. The first 12 rows have letters, and then there are 18 or 19 numbered rows behind them.

These are the cheapest 100-Level seats for a Kings game, and the Kings will shoot twice in front of sections 115-116. You’ll have a great view of the action at your end of the ice but won’t see the action at the opposite end so well.

End section tickets on the 100 Level start at around $100 for seats near the front of the section. They could be as little as $80 further back, making them an affordable option for watching the L.A. Kings play.

200 Level

200 Level seats at Crypto.com Arena are sometimes overlooked by sports fans. They’re not as cheap as 300 Level seats and farther from the court or ice than 100 Level seats. However, these seats can give you a good view of a Kings or Lakers game at a reasonably affordable price, so they’re worth checking out. 

Each standard seating section on the 200 Level has 12 rows of seats. The concourse entry tunnel is at the front of the section, so seats here will give you easier access to the concourse and a better view. However, bear in mind that you’ll still need to walk up a block of stairs from the concourse to the section entrance. 

Standard seating is only available in the corners and ends of the 200 Level, as the sideline seats are taken up by the more expensive Premier Level seating. If you choose a low row in a good location, the standard seats will give you a premium-standard view at a much lower price.

End sections 214-219 are on the shoot-twice side of the ice for Kings hockey games. If you’re watching a Lakers game, bear in mind that your view will be disrupted by the basket. 

200 Level seats aren’t the best seats at Crypto.com Arena, but they can be a good, affordable option for Lakers or Kings fans. For a Kings game, you could pay as little as $80-100 for seats on the 200 Level. For a Lakers game, the cost could start around $100-200.

300 Level

The 300 Level is sometimes called the Upper Concourse, and you’ll usually find the cheapest tickets for a Lakers game or Kings game on this deck. However, there are three levels of private suites between the 200 Level and the top deck at Crypto.com Arena, so you might feel a long way from the action.

Sections on the upper level have up to 15 rows, with the section entrance at row 3. Choosing seats in the lower rows might cost a little more but will give you a much better view of the game. You’ll also have easier access to the Upper Concourse restrooms and concessions. 

Sideline sections offer the best view from the 300 Level, especially if you choose lower rows in center sections 301 or 318. These seats will give you a good, elevated view of your chosen event.

Avoid sitting in high rows on large 300 Level corner sections such as 322 and 332. These are the furthest seats from the court or ice and have the worst views.

If you choose end zone sections for a Lakers game, the basket may obstruct your view. On the other hand, if you’re watching a Kings game at Crypto.com Arena, the Kings shoot twice toward sections 324 and 329, making them popular with home fans.

For a Lakers game, seats in 300 Level sections generally start from around $100-140, but you might find some seats priced as low as $50-80.

For a Kings game, seats in sections around the 300 Level start from just $30-50, making it a good value option for watching the LA Kings.

UCTER Seating 

UCTER seating is located on the 300 Level at the front of the Terrace that stretches between sections 324 and 329. The area has been recently renovated to provide a more exclusive feel, but has some of the most affordable seats at Crypto.com Arena. 

The UCTER section has two rows of traditional stadium seats with a row of table-top seating behind them. Although you don’t receive any premium club access, there’s a lounge and attached bar with refreshment concessions. 

These seats offer an elevated view of the basket for Lakers fans. They’re also located at the Kings’ shoot-twice end of the arena. 

UCTER seats start at around $80-110 for Lakers games and around $60 for Kings games.

Accessible Seating

ADA-accessible seating is available on all levels of Crypto.com Arena. All levels of the arena can be accessed by elevators, and additional assistance is also available if required. 

All Crypto.com Arena restrooms are wheelchair-accessible. The five All Gender restrooms are equipped with adult changing tables and can be found in the following locations:

Children aged 2 and under don’t need their own ticket for sports events and most concerts at Crypto.com Arena. They will not be assigned their own seat and must sit on an accompanying adult’s lap. 

Children aged 3 and older must have their own ticket and will be assigned their own seat.

Baby changing tables are located throughout the arena in male, female, and all-gender restrooms.

Parking at Crypto.com Arena

All parking passes at Crypto.com Arena are now digital and must be presented at the gate when you arrive. Email confirmations or receipts will not be accepted.

Parking Lot W (West Garage) on Chick Hearn Ct is recommended if you’ll be spending 3.5 hours or longer at Crypto.com Arena. 

In addition, there are over 10,000 privately owned parking spaces within a 10-minute walk of the arena. 

ADA-accessible parking spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis. These are designated for drivers of vehicles displaying a current state-issued ADA disability placard or license plate.

Arriving by Public Transportation

Traveling to Crypto.com Arena by public transportation is easy and convenient, with several different options available. 

Crypto.com Arena is served by several Metro lines, including the A Line, B Line, C Line, D Line, and E Line. You can also use the AMTRAK Train service to Union Station and transfer to the Metro Rail in downtown Los Angeles. You will need to purchase a separate Metro Rail ticket for this part of your journey. Visit the AMTRAK website for route planning and schedule information.  

Ridesharing arrangements

LAPD will enforce the  “No Stopping” signs in the area surrounding Crypto.com Arena, so you must use the rideshare pickup/dropoff areas at the following locations:

• Chick Hearn Ct. white zone between L.A. Live Way and Georgia St (eastbound)
• Figueroa St. white zone between 12th St and Pico (southbound)

Crypto.com Arena has three main entrances available to all visitors:

• Kobe Bryant Entrance at Chick Hearn Ct. (11th St.) and Georgia St.
• Star Plaza Entrance at Chick Hearn Ct. (11th St.) and Figueroa St. 
• Figueroa Entrance at 12th St. and Figueroa St.

In addition to this, 2 VIP entrances are available to premium and suite ticket holders:

• Star Plaza VIP Entrance at Chick Hearn Ct. (11th St.) and Figueroa St. 
• Southwest VIP Entrance adjacent to the next to the Los Angeles Convention Center between 11th Street and Figueroa entrances

Contactless Entry

All Crypto.com Arena tickets are provided in digital format, and screenshots or printed copies of ticket QR codes will not be accepted.

You can access your digital tickets through mobile apps such as the L.A. Lakers Mobile App or the L.A. Kings App.  These will also give you additional gameday information and convenient mobile food and drink ordering. 

All visitors to Crypto.com Arena must pass through Evolv Express® screening, which is designed to provide a quick entry procedure. You may also be required to go through a visual screening or walk-through magnetometer.

Reverse ATMs

Crypto.com Arena is a cash-free venue. All payments must be made using debit or credit cards or via contactless payment methods such as Google Wallet and Apple Pay. 

Cash-to-Card kiosks located throughout the venue will allow you to convert cash into a prepaid debit card. 

Bag Policy

No bags larger than 5” x 9” x 1” are permitted at Crypto.com Arena. This rule also includes clear bags, camera bags, and fanny packs. 

Small clutches and wallets smaller than 5” x 9” x 1” may be brought into the arena, but your clutch or wallet must pass a security inspection first.

No outside food or drinks may be taken into the arena except for 1 unopened plastic water bottle per person, measuring no larger than 33oz. 

If you need to take medical bags or parental bags into the arena, they must be no larger than 14” x 14” x 6” and be able to go through an X-ray screening. 

Tailgating

Tailgating is not allowed in any Crypto.com Arena onsite parking lots.
