A Primer on Oracle Park

Oracle Park is a ballpark in the SoMa district of San Francisco, California, and the home of the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB).

It replaced the Giant’s former home, Candlestick Park, which also hosted the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers until they relocated to Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, in 2014. Chase Center, home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, is less than a mile away. The new ballpark opened with a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 11–13, 2000.

Previously known as Pacific Bell Park, SBC Park, and AT&T Park, Oracle Park is considered the most pitcher-friendly venue in the MLB’s National League, thanks to its deep outfield. It regularly tops the list of the fewest home runs per season.

The ballpark stands on San Francisco Bay, and its right field wall overlooks a section of the bay known locally as McCovey Cove, named after Giants legend Willie McCovey.

Field Level

With premium seats taking up the infield at Field Level, outfield seats offer a more affordable lower-level option. Most sections run down to the field, but sections 132-134 are located behind sections 131 and 135.

Field Level outfield sections have up to 42 rows of seating, so sitting in the front rows means a long walk to the concessions and restrooms. Sitting in the back half of the sections will give you better sightlines from a higher position.

Rows at the front receive little shade from the sun during afternoon games, but fans in these seats have some of the best chances of catching foul balls.

These standard seats start at $45-$51.

View Level

The upper deck at Oracle Park is known as the View Level, and this is where you’ll find the most affordable Giants tickets.

The 7 lettered rows at the front of these sections are known as View Box seating, and the 18 numbered rows behind them are called View Reserve. View Box seats don’t include any premium perks, but they have a shorter walk to the concourse and better field views than View Reserve seats.

View Level infield sections are slightly more expensive than outfield seats but have better views. Choosing seats on the first base side will place you in the shade earlier for afternoon games.

View Level outfield sections have some of the farthest views of the game. This area spends more time in the sun during day games but is chilly for night games, and the foul pole may obstruct some seat views.

View seats closer to the infield on the right field side enjoy a good view of the scoreboard and Bay Bridge, or you can choose seats on the left field side for a good view of McCovey Cove.

Avoid seats in rows A-B and 1-3 if possible, as many of these have obstructed views due to the safety glass or railings.

View Box seats start at $26 in the outfield and $28 behind home plate.

View Reserve seats start at $18 in the outfield and $23 behind home plate.

Coors Light Silver Bullpen

The Coors Light Silver Bullpen is located next to section 145 in deep center field, one of the farthest locations from home plate.

These padded bar-style swivel seats have a personal ledge for snacks and drinks.

This seating makes it easy to track home run balls heading for the bay, and the area is popular with fans who want to socialize during the game.

The Oracle Park Outfield Arcade seats in sections 145-152 are one of baseball’s most unique experiences. Their position on top of the right field wall makes them an excellent spot for watching home run balls land in McCovey Cove.

These sections have 3-7 rows of bleacher seats with back support and are some of the sunniest spots for day games.

When Giants games sell out, the area behind the Arcade Seats is a popular standing-room spot.

Arcade seats start at $42-$50.

Bleacher Seats

Oracle Park bleacher sections 138-144 are located beyond the outfield wall in left and center field, and have bleacher-style bench seats without a back support. The first 5 rows are known as Premium Bleachers but don’t offer any premium perks.

Sitting in the bleachers gives you a good chance of catching a home run ball, and the bleachers in left field are close to the family-friendly attractions of the Fan Lot area.

The bleachers are in direct sunlight for day games, but they’re a cold spot for night games, thanks to the breeze coming off the Pacific Ocean.

Bleacher seats start at $20, making them the cheapest seats for a Giants game. Premium Bleachers seats in the first 5 rows start at $32.

Standing Room Only

The biggest Giants games at Oracle Park regularly sell out, and standing-room tickets offer an affordable way to attend the most popular games.

These tickets provide access to the ballpark without an assigned seat, so you can watch the game from one of the standing areas.

Standing-room locations are available at the back of the 100-level sections near the infield, but the overhang restricts the view from this location. The most popular standing spots are in right field.

Standing spots are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and if you choose to visit the concessions or restrooms, you may lose your spot.

Viewing Portals

Another unique feature at Oracle Park is the ‘Knothole Gang’ viewing portals in the right field fence, where fans can watch Giants games for free.

These viewing spots are available on a first-come-first-served basis, and guests may be moved on after each 3 innings, depending on demand. No alcoholic beverages, cans, or bottles are allowed in this area.

Accessible Seating

Oracle Park has ADA-accessible seating available on all levels.

Oracle Park’s 4 main entrances offer elevators or ramps for easy access. Once inside the ballpark, elevators and escalators provide access to all stadium levels at Willie Mays Plaza and Second Street Plaza. Elevators at Lefty O’Doul and Seals Plaza access the Promenade Level only.

Ramps at the Willie Mays and 2nd/King Street gates connect all levels of the ballpark.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Oracle Park?

The videoboard at Oracle Park, San Francisco.

Oracle Park’s standard seating offers excellent options for watching a Giants game at an affordable price.

Here’s our selection of the best standard seats for a Giants game.

Best Value For Cheapest Price

You’ll find the cheapest Giants tickets on the View Level at Oracle Park. View Reserve seats could cost just $23 behind home plate and as little as $18 in the outfield, but it’s worth paying a few dollars more to sit further forward in the View Box seats.

Bleachers and standing-room tickets are other cheap ticket options, or you could take a chance on getting a spot at the Viewing Portals and watch a few innings for free!

Best Value To Get Close To The Action

Infield Field Level sections are taken up by premium seating, so the outfield offers your best chance of getting close to the action without paying premium prices.

Field Level standard seats in the outfield start at $45-$51.

Best Value For A Great View

Standard seats on the Field Level don’t give the best views, so you’ll have to head up to one of the higher levels for a better view of a Giants game.

View Box seats behind home plate give a tremendous elevated view for as little as $28. Skip the first few rows to avoid your Oracle Park seat view being blocked by the safety rail.

If your budget stretches a little further, you might find Club Level Outfield seats starting at around $54. This option will give you an elevated view of the field plus Club Level Concourse access.

Best Value For A Fun Atmosphere

Seats in the Coors Light Silver Bullpen start at $50 and offer comfortable swivel-chair seating with easy access to a nearby bar. The views aren’t the best, but it’s a good spot for socializing.

Which Seats Are Shaded At Oracle Park?

Most games at Oracle Park start in the early afternoon or the evening. Oracle Park has an asymmetric design, so choosing shade seats takes some care.

At the start of a day game, the best place to find shade is at the back of Club Level sections 202-233, under the upper deck overhang.

By mid-afternoon, seats along the first base line are in the shade, especially if you’re sitting in the upper levels. If you’re on the Field Level, sitting further back will see you in the shade sooner.

The sunniest spots at Oracle Park are on the 3rd base line and in the outfield. View Level sections 332-336 are in direct sun until late afternoon, and it can be hard to see home plate from outfield bleacher sections until the sun goes down.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Oracle Park?

The giant glove and Coke bottle at Oracle Park, San Francisco.

If you’re visiting Oracle Park to cheer on the Giants’ opposition, sections 108-109 will place you right behind the visiting team dugout. You’ll also have a great view of the scoreboard and Oracle Park’s iconic giant baseball mitt and Coke bottle.

A more affordable option lies in sections 102-105, where you can watch the visiting team warming up. If possible, choose section 102 for more comfortable viewing angles.
