The team’s mascot is the Baltimore oriole, and they have several nicknames including “The Birds” and “The O’s.” Their home venue is known as “Birdland,” which is also the nickname for the city of Baltimore.

Camden Yards replaced the Orioles previous home, Memorial Stadium, and was the first of the retro-style MLB ballparks built in the 1990s and early 2000s. Its innovative design sparked a trend for fan-friendly ballparks built in downtown locations. This led to Camden Yards becoming known as “The Ballpark That Forever Changed Baseball.”

Work on the Orioles’s new home started in 1989. The location was once the rail yard for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s Camden Station, and the former B&O Warehouse is behind the right-field wall.

Camden Yards opened on April 3, 1992, with a preseason exhibition game against the New York Mets, which the Orioles won 5-3. The first regular season game was a 2-0 win against the Cleveland Guardians, then known as the Cleveland Indians.

Field Level Infield

Field Level seats make up the even-numbered sections 6-86 in the lower bowl at Oriole Park. These have some of the best views in the ballpark and will get you closest to the action.

Most lower-level concessions and restrooms are located on the main concourse behind home plate. This means you’ll have a longer walk to the amenities if you sit on the first or third base side.

Sections 16-58 are designated as Field Box sections and are the closest seats to the infield. Sitting in this location also gives you a comfortable padded seat.

The Orioles dugout is in front of sections 22-26, and visiting fans will enjoy sitting behind their team’s dugout in sections 48-52.

Field box seats start at $60 for seats near the back of the section and $98 for seats closer to the front.

Lower Box sections 6-14 and 60-74 make up the rest of the Field Level infield seating. Apart from cheaper ticket prices and further views, there’s no real difference between Lower Box and Field Box tickets.

Tickets start at $34 for seats at the back of Lower Box sections 6-14 and $38 for seats in sections 60-74.

Field Level Outfield

Field Level Outfield seats are further from the action but offer cheaper seating compared to infield seats. Sitting in left field at Oriole Park gives you a great chance of home run balls, so remember your mitt!

Sections 8-14 are a popular choice for families as they’re close to the kid-friendly attractions at Kids Corner. These seats will be in the sun for longer, so pick seats on the third base line if you prefer to sit in the shade sooner.

If you want a view of the pitchers warming up in the bullpens, choose high-numbered seats in section 86. Rows at the front will be directly in front of the Orioles bullpen, and the visitors bullpen is on the other side of that.

Field Level sections 84 and 86 are known as the Bird Bath Splash Zone. If you sit here, you can expect to get soaked by the Orioles’ chief hydration officer, Mr Splash, so bring a waterproof bag!

Field Level outfield tickets start at $31 for Lower Box sections 66-74, or $40 for middle rows in sections 60-68. Tickets in the Bird Bath Splash Zone (sections 84-86) start at $43.

Bleacher Seats

The Eutaw Street bleacher seats at Oriole Park are located in sections 90-98. These sections have rows of bleacher seating with chair backs, and their position means you’ll be in the sun throughout afternoon games.

Although you’re far from the action, a decent center field view is possible from sections 90 and 92. You’ll also have a chance to catch a home run ball souvenir from your visit to Oriole Park. However, your seat will be below the main scoreboard, so you’ll struggle to keep track of the scores that way.

Section 98 is a good choice for fans who want to socialize at the Orioles game, as a good selection of concessions is available nearby.

Bleacher seats start at $15.

Terrace Level

The odd-numbered sections in Oriole Park’s lower bowl are known as the Terrace Level. This second set of field sections is located behind the Field Level seats and benefits from elevated field views.

Most Terrace Level sections, except sections 33-39 behind home plate and sections 1-9 in right field have shelter from the Club Level. However, seats at the back of sections might not have the best view due to the overhang.

Terrace Level sections 43-65 are an excellent choice for afternoon games as they see shade first. You’ll also have a better view of the scoreboard from this location.

View of the baseball field from section 9 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Terrace Level outfield sections 1-17 and 55-87 are Terrace Box seats. Sections 9-15 are a good choice for families as the seats are fully shaded and near the fun Kids Corner activities.

Terrace Level seats start at £23 for Terrace Box sections 55-87 or $37 for seats at the back of Terrace Box sections 60-74.

Upper Level Infield

The Upper Level at Oriole Park has sections numbered in the 300s. These are large sections with up to 25 rows and an entrance near rows 7 and 8.

Sitting near the front of the section will give you a better view of the field and easy access to the concourse without a long walk up steep steps. Sitting further back won’t give you such a good view, but you’ll be covered by the overhang.

The best option would be to sit in the front 8 rows of sections on the third base side, as this location has good field views, and the sun will be behind you early on.

Upper Level infield sections 330-344 are Upper Box seats and offer a good option for home plate seats on a budget. You’ll have clear views of the whole field and the scoreboard in right field, but there aren’t many concessions in this area.

View of the baseball field from section 320 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Upper Level seats further down the line, like sections 320 and 356, don’t have such good views, but you’ll have easier access to concessions and restrooms.

Seats in Upper Level sections 316-356 start at $19, but seats closer to home plate will be more expensive, starting at $23 for seats near the back and $34 for seats in the front rows.

Upper Level Outfield

Outfield seats on the Upper Level are located as far as you can get from the action. Sitting in the front row can give you a panoramic view of the field, but seats further back have the worst views at Oriole Park.

Sitting in section 388 will give you a view down into the player bullpens.

Sections 306-312 and 360-388 are designated Outfield Upper Reserve, and these seats start at $18. However, it’s worth paying a few extra dollars for the better options in infield sections.

Standing Room Only

Standing Room Only (SRO) areas are available throughout Oriole Park at Camden Yards. SRO tickets don’t include an assigned seat, but you can watch the game from one of the lively standing-room areas throughout the ballpark.

Standing spots are available on a first-come-first-served basis, so you could lose your space if you visit the concessions or restrooms.

Accessible Seating

ADA-accessible seats are available throughout the ballpark and at most price levels.

Escalators connecting the stadium levels are available near first base and in the left field area. Elevators are located near section 36 behind home plate and section 78 in left field.

Areas for dropping -off and picking up passengers are available next to Gate A at the east side of the Warehouse, Gate D at Home Plate Plaza, and Gate F at the north end of the service drive.

Drink Rail seats at the back of Club Level sections 270-280 on the Club Level are a great option for socializing at a ball game. You’ll enjoy access to the climate-controlled Club Level concourse, and your seat has a ledge for snacks and drinks. These seats start at $30.

Standing room only tickets are another fun option for baseball fans on a budget. However, your ticket price won’t include seating.

Which Seats Are Shaded At Camden Yards?

Seats behind home plate will see shade first, so these are a good choice for games starting in the early afternoon. Odd-numbered Terrace Level sections, such as sections 65-67, are also a good choice on hot summer days as they are mainly under cover.

Seats along first and third base lines will be in full sun for the early part of day games. Third base line will see shade first as the sun begins to set.

All levels will be in shade on the third base side of the ballpark for late afternoon games. Seats near home plate on the first base side will see shade next, but sections further down the line and beyond the outfield walls will be in the sun for much longer.

Seats behind home plate, along third base line, and in left field are generally well-shaded for evening games.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Camden Yards?

View of the baseball field from section 50 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Field Level sections 48, 50, and 52 are directly behind the visitors’ dugout, making them a desirable choice for visiting fans. Tickets for the Field Box seats in the front rows will start at $98, but seats further back will be cheaper.

Section 86 offers a more affordable option for visiting team fans, as it overlooks the player bullpens. Tickets here start at $43, but remember, this section is part of the Bird Bath Splash Zone, so you could get soaked.

Finally, visiting fans could consider Standing Room Only tickets. These allow you to watch the game from any of the ballpark’s unassigned SRO spaces, and some of these areas overlook the bullpens.
