The Best Seats for the New York Mets at Citi Field

The New York Mets are one of the most famous teams in Major League Baseball. Whether you’ve been a Mets fan for years or want to soak up the atmosphere on a vacation to New York City, a visit to Citi Field is an unbelievable experience.

This is one of the MLB’s best-known venues with all the comfort and facilities baseball fans expect at a modern ballpark.

Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly baseball tickets or a luxury VIP experience, our guide will help you pick the best New York Mets tickets.

A Primer On Citi Field

Citi Field is the home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets. It’s located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, in the borough of Queens and opened in 2009. Citi Field was built to replace Shea Stadium, which had been the home of the Mets since 1964. With a capacity of just under 42,000, the new ballpark seats 15,000 fewer fans than the stadium it replaced.

Several features and traditions from Shea Stadium have been carried over into Citi Field, including the Home Run Apple, which lights up when a Mets player hits a home run. The current Apple was built specially for Citi Field and is four times bigger than the original Apple, which now stands outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at the entrance to the stadium grounds.

If you park in Parking Lot D, you can see cement and brass markers showing the former locations of the pitcher’s mound, home plate, and bases of Shea Stadium’s playing field.

Citi Field: The Basics

Citi Field Stadium has a 41,800-seat capacity, including 800 accessible seats. It also features 54 luxury suites and several premium clubs.

The stadium’s seating areas are organized across six levels, with sections numbered in the 00s, 100s, 200s, 300s, 400s, and 500s. The higher numbers indicate that the section is positioned higher in the stadium. Within each tier, the lower section numbers are in right field, and the number increases as you move counterclockwise around to left field.

All sections are made up of rows, with the lowest seat number in any row closest to the home plate.

Standard Seating at Citi Field

The Citi Field seating chart has a range of standard seating options with NY Mets ticket prices to suit every budget.

Here are some of the most popular standard seating areas at Citi Field:

Field Level

Seats in the 100-level section are at Field level. If you want to get close to the dugouts, the Mets players sit in front of sections 112-114, and the visiting team sits in front of Sections 121-123

Prices for standard seating in this area start from $50.

Citi Field Big Apple Reserved

The Big Apple Reserved is a Field Level group seating area on the right field side of the Home Run Apple. The area is available to hire for parties of 100+ guests from as little as $48 per person.

  • Accessible seating
  • Access to the Mets FanFest area
  • Picnic-style dining in the Bullpen Plaza
  • Optional catering services

Citi Field Citi Pavilion

Another popular group seating area at Citi Field is the Citi Pavilion at Shea Bridge. This area is located on the Field Level just beyond the outfield wall in right center field.

This area offers semi-circle table seating for parties of 16 to 72 people, access to the Mets FanFest area, and specialty concessions.

Citi Field Coca-Cola Corner

The Coca-Cola Corner is located in right field sections 301-305, which have up to 16 rows of seating. Behind them, you’ll find an area of open space and a field turf area with cornhole games. This gives the Coca-Cola Corner a fun ‘backyard’ feel, making it great for socializing with friends.

This seating is very exposed to the sun and rain, but ticket holders can access the Piazza 31 and Jim Beam clubs. If you want a chance to catch a home run ball, this area is an excellent place to sit.

Ticket prices in the Coca-Cola Corner start from $46.

Citi Field The Porch

Sections 334-339 are known as ‘The Porch presented by Hijole!’ but you might have previously known it as the Thomas Tew, Budweiser Landing, or Left Field Landing.

If you’re looking for seats in the shade, the last few rows in this area are shaded by the overhang from the Promenade Deck. Some tickets from these sections include access to the Piazza 31, Jim Beam, and Metropolitan Grille clubs.

Tickets in The Porch start from $48.

Citi Field Promenade Level

The Promenade Level at Citi Field covers all 400 and 500 sections in the stadium’s top two upper deck tiers. This part of the stadium offers little protection from the sun or rain.

Lower level Promenade sections on the 400 level have no more than 8 rows per section. If you can get front-row seats in the Promenade Baseline and Promenade Box seats, you will be closer to the field.

Front row Promenade Gold seats behind home plate in sections 411-418 offer a great view of the action, but they are also some of the most expensive seats on this level.

Many Promenade level seats have access to the Jim Beam Highball club lounge behind sections 411-418, which offers high-top table seating, two full-service bars, and a range of food options.

Lower level Promenade seating starts from as little as $24.

Upper Promenade Seating

Upper Promenade Seating is located in the stadium’s highest seating deck (500 level). However, that means that these seating areas come with an affordable price tag, which is great if you’re working with a small budget.

Promenade Infield seats in sections 510-518 will offer the best views at this level. Coverage is limited in Upper Promenade seats, so avoid the first base side if you want to keep out of the sun. You’ll also find some great food and drink options behind home plate on this level.

Prices in the Upper Promenade start from just $21, making it the best value seating in Citi Field.

Most seats will give you a good view of the baseball game. However, some sections on the Promenade level have glass partitions that block your view if you’re sitting in the wrong spot. You have a better chance of avoiding the problem if you pick a seat in Row 4 or higher or a high-numbered seat in a low row.

Accessible Seating

Citi Field has over 800 accessible seats in locations throughout the stadium. Up to three adjacent companion seats can be purchased for each accessible seat, and will be located as close as possible to the accessible seat.

There are also seating locations throughout the ballpark with movable armrest seating, which are great for guests who need a little more room.

Citi Field’s seven escalator banks run until the end of the seventh inning. Visitors unable to use stairs may use the eleven guest elevators or the left field ramp to leave the ballpark.

Standing Room Only Tickets at Citi Field

Standing-room-only tickets are the cheapest way to watch the Mets play, but they are only available for a few games each season. Standing-room spaces are at the back of sections on most levels, and you can’t reserve a place to stand.

Standing at the back of 100-level sections down each foul line will get you closer to the action, but standing in the walkway between the 400 and 500 levels in left field will give you a clearer view of the game.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Citi Field?

If you want to buy tickets to see the Mets at Citi Field without breaking the bank, you can find some excellent seating options at inexpensive prices. Here are some great value seats that still give you a great view and all the exciting atmosphere of the ballgame.

Field Level sections 112-114 are directly behind the Mets dugout. If you choose seats in the rows further back, you can get tickets for a little over $100. Sections 122-124 cost the same but are located over on the third base side, which gets more shade.

If you’re looking for the most affordable Citi Field tickets, you can get a great view from upper deck sections 413-418, and tickets are often available for around $50.

The cheapest standard seating is on Promenade Level 500. These top seats give you a bird’ s-eye view for around $20.

The 400-level sections are some of the smallest at Citi Field, with 5-7 rows of seating. Sitting in the front row of these sections will give a similar experience to Excelsior Gold seating but at a lower cost. The best views are from sections 411-418, located behind home plate.

500-level seats are on the stadium’s upper deck and provide a clear view of the field

Which Seats Are Shaded At Citi Field?

There’s a day game at Citi Field about once a week during the summer months. So, if you’re traveling with kids or just want to avoid the afternoon sun, you can find shaded seats in various locations around the stadium.

Every section will see some sun during a day game, but you can avoid most of it if you pick the right row.

The sun sets behind third base at Citi Field, so the third base side is the shaded side. Excelsior seats on the 300 level give you the best protection from the sun. Rows 3 and higher in sections 320-333 will be shaded through the afternoon, and you can even head indoors into the club if rain is forecast.

Seats on the third base side of levels 100 and 500 are also good choices for avoiding the sun, and rows 10 and higher in each section will get the most shade.

If you prefer to sit behind the Mets dugout on the first base side, you’ll see a lot more sun during day games. Only the last rows of sections 108-114 or 306-312 will see shade throughout a day game. Other rows might have some shade for a few innings.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Citi Field?

The visitors’ dugout is just in front of Field Level sections 121-123, a great choice for visiting team supporters.

A ticket in the front rows of sections 125-128 will get you really close to the field, and you’ll even be able to see into the dugout. However, if you’re watching a day game, these seats get a lot of sun, which might be a consideration.

If you’re looking for more affordable tickets, Promenade Level sections 505-508 start from give you a good view into center field and the visiting team dugout. Avoid the front three rows, as railings can spoil your view.

Citi Field is served by bus routes from Queens and Long Island. If you’re arriving at Port Authority Bus Terminal from New Jersey, Connecticut, or Upstate New York, you can transfer to the 7-train at 42nd-Times Square station.

Ridesharing arrangements

Before the game, rideshare drop-offs can be made along Seaver Way or Roosevelt Avenue.

Post-game, you should exit the stadium from the centerfield area using the Bullpen Gate or the Fan Fest Staircase. Walk one block north on Seaver Way and look for the orange and blue signs for the rideshare pickup zone.

Bikeshare

You can now use NYC’s bike-sharing program, Citi Bike, at Citi Field. Bikes and e-bikes are available at Mets Plaza to the left of the Homerun Apple and in the pedestrian plaza at Shea Road and Boat Basin Place.

If you prefer to use your own bike, secure bike parking is available near the Rotunda.

All gates open two and a half hours before post-season games.

Bag Policy

Backpacks are prohibited, with exceptions made only for fully clear backpacks without obscured interior pockets. Permitted bags include purses, diaper bags (not backpack-style), totes, drawstring and messenger bags, and small soft-sided coolers, all not exceeding 16″ x 16″ x 8″ in size. For those needing a compliant bag, consider the following clear backpacks:

Please note, there are no bag check facilities inside Citi Field, so plan accordingly.

Which are The Best Seats At Citi Field?

Upper Promenade Level tickets on level 500 will set you back around $20, but you’ll only get a bird-eye view. If you want to get closer to the action, head down to the patio tables at the right field food courts where you can get a good view of the field.

Excelsior Gold seats in section 319 will give you an elevated view from directly behind home plate. Alternatively, Excelsior level seating sections 329-333 provide club access and shade from the sun from mid-afternoon onwards.

Metropolitan Club Diamond and Platinum seats offer luxurious premium seating from a prime position close to the team dugouts.

Or for the ultimate in premium seating, Delta Sky360 seats are the most exclusive premium option at Citi Field. With in-seat food delivery service and extra-comfortable seating, these luxury seats are sure to make your visit to the ball game unforgettable.
