The Best Seats for the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium is home to the New York Yankees, one of the most famous Major League Baseball teams. Anyone with even a little baseball knowledge can recognize the Yankees’ blue-and-white uniform and the legendary Babe Ruth, so Yankee Stadium is a popular attraction for many tourists to NYC.

The Yankee Stadium you see today is a very young baseball stadium, having welcomed its first visitors in 2009, and it doesn’t yet have the illustrious history of the original stadium.

This new baseball stadium is often compared to Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. However, Yankee Stadium is a much bigger and more expensive stadium, so if you’re planning to watch a Yankees game, you’ll want to ensure you get the best possible tickets for your budget.

Read on for your complete guide to picking the perfect seat at Yankee Stadium.

Yankee Stadium: The Basics

The Yankee Stadium seating chart has seating options on five levels. Each section is numbered with three digits, and the first digit shows which level it is on.

Looking out at the field from the seats, lower number seats start at the right of the row.

Field Level

  • Standard seating in sections 103-114B and 126-136
  • Field MVP standard seating in rows 11+ of sections 115-125
  • Field MVP Club premium seating in rows 1-10 of sections 115-125
  • Champions Suite and Legends Suite premium seating

Main Level

  • Standard seating in sections 205-217 and 223-234
  • Bleacher seating in sections 202-204 and 235-238
  • Delta SKY360° Suite premium seating

Suite Level

  • 68 luxury suites

Terrace Level

  • Standard seating in sections 305-316 and 322-334
  • Jim Beam Club premium seating

Grandstand Level

  • Standard seating in sections 405-434B

Yankee Stadium also has dedicated Standing Room Only areas at the back of Field Level and Main Level sections.

History Of Yankee Stadium

Located in the Bronx in New York City, Yankee Stadium is the home of Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. It has a maximum baseball capacity of 46,537.

The original Yankee Stadium was home to the Yankees from 1923 to 2008. Construction on the new stadium began in 2006 and cost $2.3 billion, making it one of the most expensive MLB venues.

The new Yankee Stadium opened with a two-game exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs on April 3, 2009. The first regular season game took place on April 16, 2009, against the Cleveland Indians, and the Yankees won the 2009 World Series at the end of their first season in the new Yankee Stadium.

In 2014, Yankee Stadium also became a temporary home to the MLS club New York City FC. Their soccer stadium is scheduled to be completed in 2027.

Standard Seating at Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium offers standard seating on four levels and at a range of price points. It’s worth checking the website for the best deal on New York Yankees tickets for the baseball game you want to watch.

Field Level

Field Level seating at Yankee Stadium includes all sections with numbers in the 100s and all sections with two digits. Many of these are premium seating sections, but lower level sections 103-114B and 126-136 offer standard seating.

Seats with low numbers in section 103 will place you near the Yankees bullpen, while high-numbered seats in section 136 overlook the visitors’ bullpen.

Field MVP seats in rows 11+ of sections 115-125 are the best standard seating options if you want to get close to the dugouts. These sections have oversized, padded seating and offer club-standard views but without the premium prices or club amenities. Choose sections 115-117B to sit behind the Yankees dugout or sections 122-125 for the visiting team’s dugout.

If you want seats in the shade, avoid sections 103-107 for afternoon games and choose sections as close as possible to home plate.

Expect to pay prices from $100 for outfield seats or around $150 for seats down the line. Field MVP seats start from around the $300 mark, and you’ll pay slightly more for rows 1-10.

Main Level

Second deck sections 205-217 and 223-234 are designated as Main Level seats and offer some of the best views at Yankee Stadium. Main Level outfield seats start at around $80, or you can buy Main Level Infield seats for around $125-$145.

These sections overhang the Field Level, with spectacular views that feel very close to the action. Each section has up to 23 rows, and if you’re in the first few rows of the Main Level Infield sections, you can’t see the Field level seats below you.

The downside to these sections is a long walk up and down the stairs when you want to visit the concessions or restrooms. The railing also obstructs your view from the first two rows.

The highest rows are closer to the concourse, but the suite-level overhang obstructs the view from these seats. However, the overhang also creates more shade, which makes seats in rows 15 and above a good option for families.

There are fewer restrooms on the Main Level, so choose sections 227A and 227B if restroom access is important to you.

Main Level outfield sections 205-207 often see home runs but don’t have much shade, so it’s a good idea to take your hat and sunglasses for day games. Sections 233 and 234 offer a little more shade.

Terrace Level

The Terrace Level seating at Yankee Stadium covers sections 305-316 and 322-334. These are located between the Suite Level and Grandstand Level, making them much higher than the Main Level sections.

The view here is generally better than the Grandstand Level, but with no cover from a roof or overhang, so avoid this level if you want a seat in the shade.

Terrace Level seats in sections 310-312 and 328-329 offer the closest views but have an uncomfortable viewing angle of home plate. On the other hand, sections 307-309 and 330-332 have a good viewing angle but are far from the infield.

The outfield sections on this level have no more than ten rows and good access to a range of concessions and restrooms. Outfield sections 305, 306, 333, and 334 are in prime home-run territory, so pick these sections if you want a good chance of catching a ball.

You can pick up some Terrace Level outfield seats for as little as $19, although these seats are quite far back. Front-row tickets in the outfield start from around $39. Terrace Level infield seats start around $70.

Grandstand Level

The Grandstand Level at Yankee Stadium covers all 400-level sections on the stadium’s upper deck. These are the farthest seats from the field and offer some of the cheapest tickets, with outfield seats starting at around $19.

A special offer on $10 Grandstand tickets is available for every regular season home game in 2024.

Each section on this level has 14 rows of seating. Row 1 gives great views from just above Terrace level and offers easy access to the concourse. The view from row numbers 1 and 2 may be affected by the safety glass at the front of sections on this level. If you think this might distract you, it’s better to choose rows further back.

Sitting further back on the upper level means a longer walk to the concourse. However, the roof covers these rows, making them ideal for fans who want a seat in the shade.

If you want a great view of the entire field without paying Suite-level prices, Grandstand Infield sections 419-421 are ideal. They’re located behind home plate with tickets starting at around $40, which makes them a great value option.

Sections 407A and 433 are strictly alcohol-free sections for Yankees games.

Accessible Seating

Wheelchair-accessible and designated aisle-transfer seats are available at locations throughout Yankee Stadium.

Accessible restrooms and electrical outlets for recharging wheelchairs and medical equipment are available on all levels of the stadium.

Ramps are available near Gate 2 and Gate 6. There are also 16 public elevators and two banks of escalators.

Restricted View Seating

The foul poles may obstruct views from sections 107 and 132.

Railings partially obstruct the front two rows of Level 2 sections, and signage blocks the views from the final three rows of these sections.

Sections 201 and 239 have restricted views. If you can’t avoid these sections, try to choose a higher seat number in section 201 and a lower seat number in section 239.

Avoid row numbers ten and above in sections 202 and 238, which have views obstructed by the center field structure.

The front two rows of Level 4 sections may have views disrupted by plexiglass at the front of the section.

Bleachers

The metal bleacher seats at Yankee Stadium are in sections 202-204 and 235-238.

Right field sections 202-204 are home to the “Bleacher Creatures”. These are generally considered the rowdiest sections in the stadium, so you might not want to take the kids there.

The bleacher sections are also fully exposed to the sun, which makes the backless metal seats uncomfortable on a hot day. But, if you’re on a tight budget, prices starting at just $30 might make the bleachers an attractive option.

Standing Room Only

Yankee Stadium is one of the few Major League Baseball ballparks with reserved Standing-Room-Only sections (SRO). These are located at the back of the Field Level and Main Level sections.

SRO tickets start from around $16 and give you access to an assigned space to watch the baseball game. You’ll have a drinks rail and easy access to concessions and restrooms.

The SRO area on the Field Level also has some countertops and bar stools available on a first-come-first-served basis. These are popular, so plan to arrive early if you want to secure one of these seats.

An alternative is the Pinstripe Pass, which gives you general admission to the Stadium plus one free domestic beer, Pepsi soft drink, or bottled water. These tickets cost from $25 and are valid for access to any of the social gathering areas and non-designated standing-room locations.

You can also opt to sign up for the Yankees Ballpark Pass. For a monthly fee, you gain non-assigned SRO access to all Yankees’ home games during that month. There may also be the opportunity to upgrade to a non-premium seat on the day.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Yankee Stadium?

Like much of New York City, finding a bargain at Yankee Stadium can be difficult. However, it is possible to find great seats at affordable prices, and the experience is worth the effort.

Here’s our pick of the best value seats for a New York Yankees game.

Best Value for Cheapest Price

Grandstand level sections 415-425 offer a good view from behind home plate. Choose low-numbered rows for the best views, and expect to pay prices as low as $40.

Bleachers sections 202-204 and 235-238 offer a decent view and fun atmosphere for as little as $30. Avoid the cheap seats in sections 201 and 239, as they have an obstructed view of the outfield.

Best Value to Get Close to the Action

Main level sections 213-227B overhang the lower seating bowl between the dugouts. They offer an excellent elevated view that almost feels like you’re on the field. The price range here starts around $125, but skip the first two rows to avoid obstruction from the railings.

Best Value for a Great View

The Main Level is the perfect spot to find a great view at an affordable price at Yankee Stadium. In fact, they are often rated as having the best view in all of Major League Baseball, and prices start around $80 for outfield seats or $125 for infield seats.

You’ll get great sightlines from the infield, outfield, or down the line, and choosing the lower rows means you’ll be about as close as possible to the field. However, there are railings in front of the first two rows, and signage obstructs the view from the back three rows.

Best Value for a Fun Atmosphere

Pinstripe Pass tickets offer an affordable and fun way to visit Yankee Stadium. These Standing-Room-Only tickets include admission to the stadium plus a complimentary domestic beer or soft drink for as little as $25.

However, hese tickets give you access to the ballpark but not the reserved seating or SRO areas.

Best Value for Visiting Fans

The Field MVP seats in rows 11+ of sections 122-125 are the best place to get close to the visiting team dugout. Although these seats don’t give you access to the club amenities, you’ll still enjoy club-style padded seating and views for around $300. Go over a couple of sections to 127A, and the price drops to around $150.

Alternatively, you could choose bleacher sections 237 and 238 to sit above the visitors’ bullpen in left field. These are great value seats but offer little protection from the overhead sun or abuse from local fans!

Jim Beam Club

Most premium seating options at Yankee Stadium are on the lowest two levels, but the Jim Beam Club offers premium seating from an elevated position behind home plate on the Terrace Level (sections 317-321).

These are the furthest club seats from the field, but the added elevation gives you a great view of the action. The padded, oversized seats let you watch the game in comfort while enjoying a range of complimentary snacks and soft drinks.

Which Is The Best Premium Seating Option At Yankee Stadium?

Fantastic views, amazing club amenities, and excellent food and drink options make the Legends Suite the best premium seating at Yankee Stadium. These exclusive seats will get you close to the action and offer the best premium facilities, including in-seat wait service.

The Delta SKY360° Suite on the Main Level also offers premium club facilities, and the view from the 200 level is considered one of the best in baseball.

Finally, the Jim Beam offers excellent club amenities at a more affordable price, but the seats are further from the field on the Terrace Level.

Which Seats Are Shaded At Yankee Stadium?

It’s possible to find shade on all levels at Yankee Stadium except for the Terrace Level. High-numbered rows at the back of each level will be under cover, giving you protection from the sun or rain.

If sunny weather is forecast, the right field and along first base line will get more sun through late afternoon and early evening. Sticking to seats in 100, 200, and 400 level sections on the third base side will give you more shade.

Most of the Field Level gets some shade at the back of the sections, but avoid sections 103-104 and 135-136. These are in home run territory, so they give you a great chance of catching a home run ball but don’t have any overhang.

If shade is important to you, steer clear of the Bleachers. These are entirely without cover, so you’ll be fully exposed to the elements.

Rows 5 and higher on the Grandstand level have some of the cheapest Yankees seats and also have cover from the roof.

Which Are The Best Seats for Families At Yankee Stadium?

You don’t need to buy tickets for kids aged three and younger who are less than 30 inches tall. However, they will need to sit on an adult’s lap throughout the game.

Yankee Stadium isn’t always considered one of the most family-friendly MLB venues, but the new Kids Clubhouse on the Terrace Level is a great place for kids to burn off excess energy on interactive games and activities. You’ll find it in right field near sections 306-309, which are an excellent affordable option for families.

Choosing high-number rows in sections 226, 227A, 227B, and Section 228 will give you plenty of shade and easy access to the concourse.

Sections 236-238 of the Bleachers are another affordable option that’s reasonably family-friendly. However, avoid the right field bleachers in sections 202-204, where the “Bleacher Creatures” sit.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited in sections 407A and 433, but bear in mind that section 407A will see more sun in the late afternoon compared to section 433.

Family-Friendly Facilities

The Kids Clubhouse on the 300 level has a dedicated nursing lounge, and nursing is also permitted in any public area of the ballpark.

Family restrooms are available on levels 1-3 and next to the Mastercard Batter’s Eye Deck in the Bleachers area. All other restrooms have baby-changing tables.

Which Are The Best Seats for a Group of Friends At Yankee Stadium?

Sections 201-204 on the Main Level are near a bar, making them a good choice for socializing and drinking during the game. However, this area can get pretty rowdy.

Various areas throughout the stadium are ideal for socializing with a group of friends, like the All You Care To Enjoy Seats in sections 234, 305, and 306, or the Mastercard Batter’s Eye Deck in center field.

The Pepsi Food Court between sections 125 and 127B is another good choice for enjoying food and drink with friends.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Yankee Stadium?

When it comes to the treatment of visiting fans, Yankee Stadium is notoriously rowdy. The Field Level club seats are some of the best areas for avoiding any harassment.

The visiting team’s dugout is in front of Legends sections 23, 24A, 24B, and 25, making them prime spots for visiting fans. These seats aren’t often available for sale, but it’s worth checking StubHub, where tickets sometimes become available at $1000+.

Sections 123-125 in the Field Level MVP seating area are a more affordable alternative behind the dugout. Rows 1-10 are slightly more expensive than rows 11+ but benefit from club amenities.

If you’re feeling brave and don’t mind bleacher seats, sections 237 and 238 are above the visitor’s bullpen in left field and have good sight lines. If you choose any other seats in the Bleachers section, keep in mind that the “Bleacher Creatures” aren’t always friendly towards visiting fans, especially if you’re a Red Sox or Mets fan.

Where To Sit At Yankee Stadium For The Best Food

Vegan, vegetarian, and kosher options are available from concessions throughout the ballpark.

Ballpark favorites include Nathan’s Famous hotdogs at sections 127, 224, and 312, slow-cooked BBQ from Mighty Quinn’s at section 132, and Mac Truck at section 213 for superior mac-n-cheese options.

The iconic NYC food truck, The Halal Guys, serves beef gyros, chicken sandwiches, and falafels at Bleachers sections 201 and 321.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with Yankee Stadium Grand Slam Shakes served in souvenir cups at sections 112, 125, and 324, or soft serve from Mister Softee in the Bleachers and Field, Main, and Terrace level sections.

You can use the Uber Eats app to order food and drinks from most permanent stands on the Field, Main, and Terrace Levels. Order from your seat, and you’ll receive a notification in the app when your order is ready for collection.
