Rogers Centre is a retractable roof stadium and the home ballpark of Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays. They previously played their home games at Exhibition Stadium, Toronto.

In the past, the stadium has also hosted home games for the Toronto Raptors of the NBA and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

The stadium is located at the base of the CN Tower in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, near Lake Ontario. It’s just a short walk from Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL and the Toronto Raptors.

When it opened on June 3, 1989, the stadium was called the SkyDome and was the world’s first stadium with a fully retractable motorized roof.

The roof takes 20 minutes to open or close, and it can’t be moved in cold weather as the mechanism may fail at low temperatures.

Key features of the recent renovations include new social spaces and changes to the viewing angle for some seating sections. Some seats have been removed to give more space per seat. This has resulted in the ballpark’s maximum seating capacity falling to 39,150 for baseball games.

Which Are The Best Value Seats At Rogers Centre?

Rogers Centre, Toronto.

Standard seating at Rogers Centre offers excellent ways to watch a Toronto Blue Jays game at an affordable price.

Here’s our pick of the best value Blue Jays seats.

Best Value For Cheapest Price

500 Level Outfield prices start at $23-25 CAD, making them the cheapest seats at Rogers Centre. However, you’ll be far from the action, and the view here isn’t great.

Moving closer to home plate on the 500 Level will give you better views while keeping the cost low. Seats at the front of 500 Level Home Plate sections 521-527 offer a much better view of the infield and the center field video board, with tickets starting at $27 CAD.

Best Value To Get Close To The Action

Seats at the front of sections 114 and 134 are close to first and third bases, so you’ll get a great view of the action. Your ticket could start at just $127 CAD, and the views are nearly the same as the more expensive Dugout Reserved seats nearby.

Best Value For A Great View

Choosing seats at the back of Home Plate Reserved sections will give you a view similar to the premium clubs. Your slightly elevated seat view will allow you to watch the game comfortably, and your tickets could start at $124 CAD.

Best Value For A Fun Atmosphere

Rogers Centre has 5 Outfield Neighbourhoods available to anyone with a valid game ticket. This includes Outfield District general admission tickets, which cost just $20 CAD.

Spaces like the Corona Rooftop Patio, the Westfield Flight Deck, and the Catch Bar are ideal places to hang out with friends, relax with great food and drink, and watch the Blue Jays play.

Which Seats Are Shaded At Rogers Centre?

View of the baseball field from Section 538 at Rogers Centre, Toronto.
Image credit: Zachmumby, A View from my Seat.

When the Rogers Centre roof is open, the third base side of the park generally has more shade than the first base side.

Finding shade in the early afternoon can be difficult. However, you may find some shade over outfield sections under the non-retracted part of the roof. 200 Level seating rows under an overhang will also offer some respite from the sun.

Sections behind home plate will be in the sun at the start of early afternoon Blue Jays games but will see shade earlier than third base line seats. Seats along the first base line see shade last.

If you’re watching a game starting in the late afternoon, seats on the third base side will have their backs to the sun in the early innings. Seats in center field and right field will have the sun on them for most of the game until the sun has dipped below the level of the roof.

The summer sun sets late in Toronto, sometimes after 9pm. If you’re watching an evening game, the first base side of Rogers Centre will be in sunlight until the sun has set. Seats behind home plate and on the 3rd base side of the stadium will be in shade throughout the game.

Where Should Visitors Sit At Rogers Centre?

View of the baseball field from Section 117 at Rogers Centre, Toronto.
Image credit: Lisahuang, A View from my Seat.

The visitors’ dugout at Rogers Centre is located in front of sections 16-19, so premium KPMG Blueprint Club seats will give you the best views. However, these VIP seats are rarely available on secondary market websites. The ticket prices could start at around $200 CAD.

Ticket availability will be better for Dugout Reserved sections 117-119 . Seats at the front will start at around $134 CAD.

Sections 103A, 103B, and The Catch Bar are all good options for visiting fans who want to sit near the visitors’ bullpen. Seats in these areas will start at around $61 CAD.
